Under the Skin of a KTM RC8 R-Powered Sidecar Racer

If you’ve never seen a sidecar race, you’d be amazed at how different it is from motorcycle racing. Not only do you have some entirely different physics at work with the third wheel, you also have a passenger sprawled over the chassis behind the rider, sticking his body out to either side at lean angles that would make Marc Marquez break a sweat. 2013 Dakar Rally Results

Cyril Despres won his fifth career Dakar Rally while helping KTM win for the 12th consecutive time, in taking the motorcycle class in the 2013 edition of the famed off-road race. KTM was again the dominant manufacturer with the top five finishers in the motorcycle class riding motorcycles from the Austrian manufacturer. Despres finished with an overall time of 43:24:22 for the win, including a 15-minute penalty for swapping an engine after the one he was using in his KTM 450 Rallye failed.

WSB, Nobby Ueda and my KTM RC8R

WSB last weekend at Donington Park, once again delivered some amazing racing but I'm not sure what Leon Haslam has to do to get that first victory on the BMW. He looked the strongest prospect for the win in race one until Marco Melandri appeared to brake a tad early at the Esses sending the Pocket Rocket across the gravel. I really believe it was a case of innocent victims though at the last corner on the last lap in race two.
