New KTM 1290 Super Adventure Gets Active Cruise Control

The Austrians are testing a prototype of an upgraded large "nomad", which will receive an unprecedented electronic system. The design of the front of the modern Super Adventure a la “giant mutant insect” still raises questions from the faithful fans, and the closer it gets to the presentation of the new features the more concerns there will be - a huge slot will appear below between the headlights. John Penton was one of the most influential figures in the development of off-road motorcycle racing in America during the 1960s and ’70s. His life’s story is triumphant and tragic. When his attempts to convince Husqvarna to produce a smaller, lighter motorcycle fell on deaf ears, Penton created his own design and commissioned KTM, a small moped and bicycle maker in Austria, to build it. The motorcycle was an instant success in off-road competition and led KTM to expand its efforts in the motorcycle realm, initially in conjunction with Penton and ultimately on its own.

KTM Reports Q1 2014 Sales Results

KTM reported a record year in 2013, but the Austrian company does not appear to be slowing down in 2014. KTM claims sales of 32,994 motorcycles over the first three months of the year, an impressive 26.8% increase over the same period in 2013. Considering KTM sold a record 123,859 all of last year, the impressive start bodes well for another attempt at a sales record in 2014.
