2014 KTM Adventure Rally Open For Registration + Video

Mark your calendars for the KTM Adventure Rally, happening Friday – Sunday, September 19-21 in Taos, New Mexico. Suitable for enduro and adventure riders of all levels, the KTM Adventure Rally will tour the Taos ski valley area, but more importantly, it will allow riders to put themselves and their machines through their paces in some spectacular off-road environments. Professional KTM riders and racers will be on hand to offer tips and assistance to those who want it, and demo rides on both the KTM 1190 Adventure and 1190 Adventure R will be available.

KTM Ready to Race Again, Entering Moto3 Class in 2012

KTM announced it will return to Grand Prix road racing in 2012 with a new racebike for the new 250cc four-stroke Moto3 class. The Austrian manufacturer discontinued its Grand Prix road racing program in 2009, withdrawing from the 125cc class (pictured above is current Moto2 racer Marc Marquez racing for the KTM factory team in the 2009 125cc class). With the Moto3 class set to replace the 125cc class in 2012, KTM will return with a new racebike.

KTM introduced its prototype electric motorcycle earlier this week, and electric bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles almost immediately responded by opening sales on its 2009 Zero X dirt bike (look for our review of the 2008 model next week!). But these two companies aren’t the only ones exploring the possibilities of electric-powered motorcycles. In September, Japan’s largest industrial information journal Nikkei Business Daily reported that both Honda and Yamaha have set target dates for launching their own electric-powered motorcycles.
