Derek “Nobby” Clark Added As Inductee to AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame

The somewhat drawn-out drama surrounding the mis-nomination of Derek “Nobby” Clark to the 2012 class of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame has finally come to an end with the AMA announcing today that in a supplemental vote Clark was elected to the Hall of Fame. EICMA 2012: KTM Unleashes the Beast with 1290 Super Duke R Prototype

Last week, KTM teased its new large-displacement naked prototype, revealing a brief glimpse and an audio recording of the engine on the so-called “beast”. KTM has now revealed the beast, presenting the new 1290 Super Duke R prototype at the 2012 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. Due to launch some time in 2013, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R will top a full line of naked Duke models which includes the 125, 200, newly revealed 390, 690 and 990.

KTM's return to racing in the Moto3 class has resulted in one of the most exotic race machines for the new four-stroke replacement class. The lightweight 24kg 250cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine has been connected to a trellis frame, and it is all contained within a beautifully crafted carbon-fibre shell that includes a self-supporting seat unit. Now in its second stage of development, the whole package has been pretty impressive in testing, with Red Bull Ajo KTM riders Danny Kent and Sandro Cortese putting in some fast laps.
