KTM Other description

1981 KTM 420 MC80

Freshly rebuilt from the ground up. This one is a rather special and purpose built racer. Everything on the bike is listed:

  • Nickel-plated frame/pegs/rear brake
  • Motor rebuilt. Clutch is one finger pull.
  • Fresh new plastic and professionally painted plastic tank
  • New seat cover
  • New pipe and rebuilt silencer
  • All new Magura controls
  • All new cables
  • New sprockets and chain
  • New tires front and back
  • New spokes in the rear
  • Very trick front end. Front forks are from a 1988 Honda CR250 (superb cartridge forks) with 1983 front wheel.
  • KTM Wirtz racing fat bars
  • New TM flat slide carb
  • Rebuilt Fox Factory shocks (extremely rare)
  • Nickel-plated kickstand and bracket

The bike runs perfect and shifts through all gears flawlessly. If you've ever wanted one of these this one has all of the hassle taken out of it. Rebuilt and ready to put on the track.

There are two tarnished areas with some light surface rust near the foot peg area on each side(shown in the pictures). Frame has been sitting for a while since it was plated.

Bike will only need a pair of foot peg return springs. to be 100% complete.

I will not crate or disassemble the bike for shipping. Bike is ready for pickup at my location or I can deliver in the Washington DC area. Can also deliver to the York Swap Meet in January.

Overseas buyers you would be responsible for having the bike picked up, crated, and all paperwork taken care of.

Reserve is very fair for a bike this rare. If you are not serious about buying please don't bid.

It was good to catch up with my old mate Daryl Beattie last weekend in Misano. Daryl was pushing Mick Doohan hard for the 500cc World Championship in 1995 until he high sided and broke his collar bone in Assen mid way through the year. He eventually finished runner up in the series but then some fairly big tumbles from his Lucky Strike Suzuki in 1996 brought his career to a premature end.

Ryan Dungey Propels KTM to First AMA Motocross Championship

Fri, 24 Aug 2012

The combination of racer Ryan Dungey, team manager Roger de Coster and the KTM 450 SX-F has delivered KTM its first ever 450 AMA Motocross title. Dungey rebounded from a first-lap crash in the opening moto at Unadilla Raceway to sweep both motos and clinch the 2012 AMA Motocross championship. The sweep gave the Red Bull KTM factory rider 450 points on the season and an insurmountable 113-point gap over MotoConcepts Suzuki‘s Mike Alessi.
