The sudden and tragic death of Kurt Caselli during this year’s Baja 1000 has had a big impact on the motorcycle community. An immensely talented competitor and champion, Caselli was a rising star in his prime and was destined for greatness. A three-time AMA Hare & Hound champion, WORCS champion, and ISDE gold medalist, Caselli even won a two stages in the Dakar Rally in his first attempt last year.

If you’ve never seen a sidecar race, you’d be amazed at how different it is from motorcycle racing. Not only do you have some entirely different physics at work with the third wheel, you also have a passenger sprawled over the chassis behind the rider, sticking his body out to either side at lean angles that would make Marc Marquez break a sweat. The Diavel rocks!

The Diavel is my new bike of the year. Not being a huge Ducati fan, when I was thrown the keys of this monster at Silverstone on Tuesday I was expecting an ill handling, weighty beast that would run out of revs and scare me to death. Well I couldn’t have been more wrong as I had an absolute blast.
