2013 KTM 200 XC‑W: Less means more!

Perfect union: the playful handling of a 125 coupled with engine power that comes close to that of a 250. The KTM 200 XC‑W redefines user-friendliness in 2013: electric starter, new cylinder head and new carburetor jets! As a result, it's the first choice for all those seeking the best handling, comfort and power for entry level enduro racing.

AIRBOX

The airbox on the KTM 200 XC‑W model year 2013 allows maximum air to pass through, but minimal dust and spray. Replacement of the Twin-Air filter takes approx. 15 seconds, without any tools. Absolutely "READY TO RACE".

NEW CYLINDER HEAD

KTM 2-stroke technology is updated and refined year after year. The newly developed cylinder head delivers smooth and more even responsiveness in MY 2013. At the same time, new jets tuned to the modified cylinder head ensure even better rideability. Power-Valve exhaust control, 6-speed transmission and electric-starter are a tried and tested KTM standard for 250/300 cm³ (250/300 cu in). From MY 2013, for the KTM 200 XC‑W as well!

ADDITIONAL ELECTRIC STARTER

The 200 XC‑W is equipped with both kick and electric-starters in MY 2013. This simplifies starting the bike in all situations. With its patented placement in a longitudinal direction above the ignition, the compact starter system is optimally protected and provides a decisive advantage in hard offroad use.

INDIVIDUAL SUSPENSION SETTING

The KTM 200 XC‑W has its own individual suspension setting in MY 2013, optimally tuned to weight and engine.

BRAKES

Sensitive: Brakes from Brembo® are standard equipment on the KTM offroaders and, together with steel-braided brake lines and lightweight wave-type brake discs, they are recognized as the measure of all things in terms of application and brake performance. The further refined rear brake cylinder has a new internal mechanism. This leads to less wear at the rubber seal and results in a longer service life in tough offroad use.

FRAME

The high-quality, chrome-molybdenum steel frame excels with even greater lateral stiffness. It is also better at absorbing jolts introduced by the suspension system, thereby, boosting the bike's playful handling and comfort.

OPTIMIZED SWINGARM

The KTM 200 XC-W's lightweight, cast aluminum swingarm accommodates the shock absorber centrally in order to load the arms evenly. The PDS shock absorber, featuring adjustable rebound and high/low-speed compression damping and new settings, is installed more flatly to provide better progression.

TELESCOPIC FORK, NEW SETTING

The latest generation of fully adjustable 48 mm (1.89 in) open-cartridge fork "Made in Austria" by WP Suspension provides the highest level of responsiveness with more constant damping characteristics. Not least due to the use of a new fork oil and new SKF fork seal rings.

BODYWORK

The KTM 200 XC‑W has bodywork with extremely slim ergonomics and excellent contact points between rider and machine. It provides unlimited freedom of movement. Newly styled graphics give the models a fresher appearance in 2013.

My dream bike for 2013: The KTM 250GPR

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

I never really know when I’m asked what my dream bike would be but should Camelot shine on me this Saturday I know what I want at the moment, the KTM250GPR. At around £45,000 and with only 49bhp the Austrian firms over the counter Moto 3 racer for 2013 might not sound that appealing but I beg to differ. For starters they look stunning so I’d never get bored of looking at it in my garage but the technical spec and potential fun of taking one to a race track is what really turns me on. Far from being some motocross engine shoehorned into a steel trellis frame the 250GPR is just a small step down from Sandro Cortese’s world championship winning Moto 3 machine.

New: MIVV exhausts for KTM Duke 125 and 200

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

Italian exhaust manufacturer MIVV have produced three new slip-on exhausts to fit the Duke 125 and Duke 200. They offer small power gains and save around 1.5kg off the stock exhaust. We like the Ghibli, pictured above.
