KTM Teases New 1290 Naked Prototype Ahead of EICMA – Is This the New Super Duke?

Fri, 09 Nov 2012

KTM has released pictures of a new 1290cc naked prototype, the so-called “Beast” whose engine roar KTM revealed earlier in the week. To be officially unveiled next week at the 2012 EICMA show, the new model is still unnamed, though judging by the brief glimpses of its styling and the KTM North American dealer meeting slide that leaked earlier this year, we’re pretty sure this new prototype will eventually become the KTM 1290 Super Duke. KTM Announces Record Sales of 123,859 Motorcycles in 2013

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

KTM announced a 15.6% increase in motorcycles sales in 2013, thanks in large part to expansion into Asian and South American markets. The Austrian manufacturer sold 123,859 motorcycles in 2013, compared to the previous annual sales record of 107,142 motorcycles set in 2012. Increased sales translated to revenues of €716.3 million (US$971.0 million) in 2013, a new record shattering the previous record of €612.0 million set the previous year by 17.0%.

2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R Revealed

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Almost a year after it was revealed in prototype form, KTM has released final specifications and photographs of the all-new 1290 Super Duke R production model. Until now, KTM had been coy about the specs for its large-displacement naked bike, but we can now see what makes the Austrian manufacturer nickname the new Super Duke R as “the Beast”. In typical KTM style, the 1290 in the bike’s name provides only a ballpark estimate of the actual engine displacement.
