Here we have a well used example of the legendary RD04 Africa Twin, just freed from its shipping container. Aesthetically this bike is a bit rough, though the Honda colors show well. It's not a bad looking machine, it's just that you'll likely enjoy it more blasting down fire roads than looking at it amongst a motorcycle collection. Visually, there are plenty of things to nitpick. With that said, this bike runs very well, and I wouldn't hesitate to take it to Latin America if I needed to. Lets try this again - listed it in the wrong place last time... This is my 1987 Honda CR-500 that I bought new. It has been kept in storage in my barn for the last 13 years - never left in the weather. This bike was used in the California Desert, and taken care of like a baby. It comes with the following awesome accessories: DeVol rear disc aluminum cover, DeVol hydraulic reservoir protector. Acerbis front disc and fork protectors, Roost Boost, Sidewinder Front and rear Sprockets and Aluminum Bars. This bike is a BEAST, and was running perfectly when I moved to PA where it is now. I only ran Trick Racing Gas, and Castrol at 20:1 so the motor has been protected. This thing has so much power, you can climb a hill in 3rd. The picture is me jumping this exact bike out at El Mirage sometime around 1989 or so. I loved this machine... It HAS been sitting in the Barn for a while, so the front disc is locked, and the tires need to be replaced. I have not kicked it over, since the gas/oil mix in the carb is old too, and that should be replaced along with all the other fluids. The bike comes with no warranty, except my personal word (and I have a 100% seller rating for a reason) that there was nothing wrong with it when I moved to PA. We had lots of fun riding this motorcycle through the woods near his home for a few years, after which it sat in his garage for over 20 years. I'm downsizing my collection. My VFR1200 is in excellent condition, always stored in the garage with my other bikes. I'm the second owner, and have had it for almost 2 years. The saddlebags and trunk are keyed to the ignition. The factory metallic paint is super glossy and deep, as I keep it clean and waxed. I've changed the oil twice, using Castrol Power RS 4T full synthetic, last time at 7,500 miles. The horsepower and torque is ridiculous on this bike, 150+ and 90+, respectively. Of course you lose a little power to the shaft drive and single sided swing arm which looks great but no chain maintenance! I have installed a Leo Vince slip-on which in my opinion sounds great with the deep rumble, and also a plug-and-play Bazzaz Z-bomb which overcomes the OEM power restrictions in gears 1 and 2. I've also installed the dark smoke ZG sport touring screen.(The stock screen, factory passenger grab handles, and exhaust is included too. You have to take the stock exhaust because I don't want to look at that hideous thing in my garage!) Lastly, I installed a carbon fiber kit which consists of a factory tank protector, knee pads, gas lid, and triple tree, looks very sharp. I also replaced the battery with the Battery Tender Lithium variety which weighs 80% less than a lead acid. Anyways, the tires are in great shape, less than a thousand miles on them, so it's ready to go anywhere you do. 2023 KTM RC 8C Review
Wed, 31 May 2023It had been quite a while since I last rode a multi-cylinder KTM on a racetrack – all the way back to 2011 and the Red Bull-sponsored factory RC8R 1200cc V-twin on which Martin Bauer was victorious in that year’s IDM German Superbike Championship, with teammate Stefan Nebel third. That was a key moment in the Austrian dirtbike specialist’s climb up the ladder to equal status with the likes of Honda and Ducati in the road racing pantheon, and showed that orange was a color to be reckoned with on-road as well as off it. KTM invited Alan Cathcart to join 30 customers to pick up their new RC 8Cs in Valencia and hobnob with the likes of Jeremy McWilliams, Mika Kallio, and Brad Binder.
