MSF Begins Year-long Real World Motorcycle Safety Study

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation has started what it calls the first-ever naturalistic study of motorcycling, with 100 motorcycles equipped with data logging equipment to record real-world riding situations over the course of a year. Nearly three months on since Joan Lascorz's accident in the post-race test at Imola, the first image has appeared showing the Spaniard in good spirits whilst he undergoes rehabilitation. The terrible crash left the 27-year-old factory Kawasaki rider with a fracture to his C6 vertebrae, and fears that it would leave him quadriplegic. Fortunately, as shown in the picture with his raised arm, Lascorz has recovered full sensitivity in his upper limbs.

The Best Racetrack You’ve Never Heard Of

Last week I had the opportunity to ride one of the best tracks in the world, but you’ve probably never heard of it. It’s called the Autopolis International Racing Course and is located in northern Kyushu, Japan, a 90-minute bus ride from the nearest city, Kumamoto. Autopolis is a wonderfully flowing, 2.9-mile track that rises and falls like a symphonic overture, with inclines that range up to 7.2% uphill, 10% downhill.
