Kawasaki Other description

Up for sale is a beautiful 1983 Kawasaki Spectre 750.

A little background on the bike: Kawasaki designed the Spectre to be the anti-chrome bike with the black and gold paint scheme. (It was also available in red) The bike is shaft driven, so there is no having to mess with a chain or belt. This bike was mostly ridden year round.

This bike was overhauled last year, in May of 2015 by Lincoln Cycle & ATV in Lincoln, NE. I can not remember what was all done, but do remember exhaust valves and valve guides were replaced, timing was checked, brakes were checked and flushed and several other services. This motorcycle runs flawlessly, and will cold start every time. It is carbureted, so it takes a minute to warm up, but it is one of the smoothest motorcycles I have ever ridden. The engine is quiet, powerful and responsive. I've had several comments on how incredibly smooth it is to ride.

In addition, here are is the other work I can remember on it:

New tires, May 2015
New battery, April 2016
New voltage regulator, January 2016
New seat cover, January 2016
New paint, May 2015

There has been a lot of careful work done on this bike to make it original as possible. Current odometer is at 19,XXX and I will continue to add miles. This is a daily driver .This bike will also include the following:

Two Vetter hard-sided bags, with paint that was done to match in May of 2015. They will come with their original Vetter mounting frames, and the key. They need new screws for the lids as the old ones were rusting. (Standard hardware from any store $5) I bought the bags and frames off of another Kawasaki Spectre owner, only to find out his was the large frame 1100 and the bolt holes DO NOT LINE UP. You can get the frames to line up, but not completely, I believe anyone with a welder and an hour should be able to fabricate a new bolt hole--they're not that far off.

This will come with a new generator cover. As far as I know, the bike has not been laid down (at least it hasn't by me). The generator cover currently on is scuffed up, but not scratched. It looks like wear from rubbing on the side of a garage or something. The new one looks awesome and has the original paint on it from what I can tell.

This will come with the original owners manual and a Haynes manual

I also have a box of extras, O-rings, wires and other miscellaneous items. Everything I can find will be thrown in.

Issues: For some reason, the right front turn signal stays on. I've been told this may be due to the switch assembly needing cleaning, I'm not sure, I never looked into it. The left signal works without issue. Every now and then, I do get a slight drop of oil from the shifter. I looked into it, and for what would be required to stop an occasional drip isn't worth the trouble.

Buyers in the area are more than welcome to test drive the motorcycle with $1500 cash in hand.

Lastly, yes, you can ride the bike home. If the bike doesn't sell for a fair price, I'll be riding it six hours back home, it's just that smooth. Good luck bidding, and please do not hesitate to message me with any questions.

Will the road-going RCV look like this?

Thu, 25 Oct 2012

Honda announced in a dry-as-you-like press release that a new bike was coming.  Not another motorcycle-cum-medical aid like the DN-01 or Integra, this is going to be a proper bike. A bike in a similar vein to previous bikes in the RC series, the RC30, RC45 and RC51, aimed squarely at winning races. So what's it going to look like?

AMA Supercross: 2012 Anaheim I Results

Mon, 09 Jan 2012

Ryan Villopoto picked up where he left off while Ryan Dungey gave KTM its first ever AMA Supercross podium as the season kicked off in Anaheim, Calif. Reigning champion and Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Villopoto took the holeshot and led all 20 laps to win the Anaheim I season opener by over 12 seconds ahead of Chad Reed‘s TwoTwo Motorsports Honda. “Villopoto made us look silly out here tonight,” says Reed.

AMA Supercross: 2012 Atlanta Results

Mon, 27 Feb 2012

Ryan Villopoto‘s winning streak was snapped, KTM scored its second series win and Cole Seely impressed as an injury replacement for Trey Canard as the 2012 AMA Supercross Championship landed in Atlanta, Ga. Racing for the American Honda Muscle Milk team, Seely nabbed the holeshot and led the opening seven laps before finally being overtaken by Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey. Monster Energy Kawasaki‘s Villopoto had a poor start by his standards, finishing the first lap in sixth place.
