Kawasaki Other description

Hi all!

I'm selling my 1981 KZ550 custom chopper, I built it with my Dad. Its a rat rod for sure, its a culmination of two KZ550s and parts here and there from other bikes. The chassis has 38511 miles on it, the engine however has much less (I cant remember off hand). I was told the original engine to this chassis was bad, so I bought a parts bike with a good engine. (I still have the old bad engine). When I did the engine swap I did the hardtail conversion, I did a "kong" type conversion. The swing arm is still intact so the bike can be easily maintained, it bolts to the uprights vs shocks. I also relocated the battery to the right side, its a little bit of a challenge getting in/out but obviously I got it in there, haha!

The bike overall is in good condition, it looks like a ratty but thats the point. I installed a rear fender from another bike (Yamaha I think?), and a Tombstone tail light. The bike has also been raked a few degrees. The handle bars are stockers cut and rotated out, they are comfortable but give off a custom look. The engine is stock other than the POD filters, when I installed them I had to get a jet kit, so I bought the DynoJet kit, it came with a handful of jets and new needles. Currently the #98 main jets and DJ needles (4th from the top slot) are installed, it runs great! The bike starts every time, and usually with little to no choke. The brakes are in working condition, the speedometer works, the tach works, all the lights and turn signals work too! The only thing that is iffy is the neutral light, it doesnt illuminate when its put in neutral.

I re-wrapped most of the electrical harness and rewired the tails and rear turn signals (I'm using a second front set of signals for the rear). Over the engine I wrapped the harness with high temp tape and where the harness is exposed I put nylon split loom over it.

The bike will come with a box of stock parts, side covers, foot pegs, air box, and other misc stuff from the parts bike. There is also a set of case protection bars that are not pictured, they will be installed on the bike shortly. They hug the two crank case sides that protrude incase of a fall.

The bike rides very smooth for a hardtail, I really like the way this bike rides but its time to sell and move onto other projects. It would make a great around town cruiser or with some elbow grease a really clean custom chopper. Its a cool bike that gets some lookers on the street, dont let the ratty exterior deterr you from this fun bike!

I have a clean and clear MD title ready to sign off to the next owner!

If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask!

Kawasaki Z250 SL Launched In Asia

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

Kawasaki, today, launched the long-awaited streetfighter version of the Ninja 250 in Asia. Dubbed the Z250 SL (Super Lightweight), some may call it the baby Z1000. That nickname, while fitting, is already reserved for the standard Z250, which draws a middle ground in terms of riding position (and amount of plastic) between the Z250 SL and the supersport Ninja 250.  Designed for the sports-minded urban commuter, Kawasaki heralds this lighter, racier alternative to the Z250 as the perfect companion for someone looking for Ninja-based performance, quick, nimble handling, and aggressive ergonomics.

WSBK: 2012 Brno Results

Mon, 23 Jul 2012

Marco Melandri bit a chunk off of Max Biaggi‘s World Superbike championship points lead by taking a pair of wins at Brno. The double was the first in Melandri’s career and the first for BMW. Biaggi, who arrived in the Czech Republic with four wins and nine podium finishes in ten previous races at Brno, was held off the podium this year, shrinking his lead in the championship to 21 points from 48.
