Kawasaki Other description

Up for sale I have a 1979 KZ 1000 E Shaft driven bike. This is an awesome, very fun, very fast bike. I got it off of a guy who had it setting in his barn, riding it every once in a while over the past 15 years or so. He got it off of a friend of his who had passed away, and was the original owner.

It's got some surface rust on the rear brake pedal, kick start arm, outside of the tank, and some other places. It is completely mechanically sound though. Brakes work great, runs really good. These 1000s are indestructible. I have not had the carb rack off, and the guy I got it off of said he last cleaned them out two years ago so they could probably use a cleaning. It starts up first or second kick every time though.

It has new throttle cables, and a new clutch cable. I just rebuilt the petcock with an OEM kit as well.

I did a few small things to it including:

-new tracker bars with some sweet vintage Gran Turismo grips from Italy
-new mini speedometer
-new dirt tires (400 miles on them)
-removed a bunch of things to get it lighter. (Still have all of the stock parts to go with it)
-lowered the front 3 inches, and put 1.5" shorter shocks out back
-cut the rear frame hoop off and welded a cross brace in to re-mount the stock tailpiece up about 5" closer, and made a seat for it.
-plate mount inside of the tailpiece, and put a new tri fin taillight on it on a mount I welded to the frame.
-new headlight ears
-threw some fork boots on

I hate to get rid of this bike, but I'm moving across country and don't feel like moving all 7 bikes I currently have. I planned on taking it apart and cleaning it up, and re-painting everything this winter but I just don't have the space for it.

Message me for any questions you may have, I'd be happy to answer them. The title is clear, in my name, and ready to go. I have no problem with shipping it anywhere as long as buyer assumes all responsibility for arranging shipping, and covering ALL costs.

With Tom Sykes and his Kawasaki Ninja ZX–10R holding a comfortable lead in his title defense of the World Superbike Championship and Loris Baz standing in third place aboard his ZX–10R, you might expect that Kawasaki would have some important plans for celebrating 30 years of Ninjas during the 2014 SBK season.
