2013 Long Beach International Motorcycle Show Report

Today the motorcycle press descended upon the Long Beach Convention Center to attend media day at the annual International Motorcycle Show. After feasting from a continental breakfast buffet the discerning journalists set to the task of reporting on the bounty of new model motorcycles – most of which has been previously showcased in our November EICMA reporting. Melissa Paris To Race FIM CEV Superstock 600 In 2014 Aboard Kawasaki ZX-6R

With the recent turmoil in the AMA Pro Roadracing series lately, many teams and riders are looking at other options for the 2014 racing season. Among those is Melissa Paris, who recently announced she would be taking her talents to Spain next year to race in the highly competitive FIM CEV Superstock 600 class, aboard a Kawasaki ZX-6R prepared by Stratos Racing. The Spanish Roadracing championship will be run under the guidance of the FIM for the first time starting next year, which will have the side benefit of exposing Paris to more international teams and competition.

2013 US Motorcycle Sales Data

The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) reported a modest 1.4% growth in U.S. motorcycle and scooter sales in 2013, with consumers purchasing 465,783 vehicles. The sales data represents numbers from the MIC’s member brands which include BMW, Can-Am, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, the Piaggio Group (which includes Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Vespa), Victory, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.
