Kawasaki Other description

1973 Kawasaki Z1 900. This bike has just been beautifully restored and is ready for its next 43 years of life. Runs and drives perfectly and does not leak or burn oil. Bike has been completely torn down and rebuilt using original parts, NOS Kawasaki parts and some aftermarket.

The frame has been powder coated along with every other piece that is black on this bike including the battery box, foot pegs, triple trees and kick stand. New tapered steering head bearings have now upgraded the original ball bearings. Swing arm bushings have been upgraded to needle bearings.

Original bodywork in is nice shape for being 43 years old. The side covers and tail have a couple spider cracks that can be seen in my pictures. The tank is clean and is not coated and is in real nice shape. One little mark on the orange that has been touched up. This bike is extremely presentable at a show and even with the patina in the paint it does not distract from the beauty.

The motor has had a complete rebuild. The cylinder head has new exhaust guides, springs and viton seals. The original early 73 block has been bored to 1015 and stock original Kawasaki 1015 pistons were used. This assures that the cylinders are all straight and will make a nice seal on the new rings and you wont have to worry about burning oil or smoking. All new gaskets and seals on the rest of the engine. All other internal engine parts were inspected and replaced as needed. Transmission was checked for wear and you wont have to worry about it popping out of gear because of work engagement dogs.

The list of new parts on the this bike is many; 630 QR chain, intake boots, cables, battery, blinker lenses chrome gauge covers, headlight ring, grips, seat.

Most of the chrome has been redone and is fresh this includes both fenders.

Has polished engine covers and fork legs. The forks have new seals and fresh oil.

Matching motor vin number. Frame # 6414 Motor # 6710

Gauges rebuilt and reset to 0 by Z-Resto

 Brand new exhaust.

Has Dyna electronic ignition and the charging system works as it should and checks 14.5 volts when running.

Caliper has new seals and is rebuilt.

No excuses here. This bike runs and drives perfect and everything works like it should. I am not in the business of selling junk or just flipping bikes without going over them like my own. Bid with confidence and I will stand behind what I say and sell.

I do not welcome bids from anyone with a feedback score of less than 10, or from anyone with excess negative feedback. If you are in either of these categories you will need to contact me prior to bidding or your bid will be removed. Payment: should be paid within 14 days of the auction’s end. This should be by bank wire transfer or cash in person. NO PAYPAL.  Please, be willing and able to follow these payment requirements. Shipping: This is the responsibility of the buyer. Once the payment requirements have been met, I am happy to store the bike until collection can be arranged. The Zip Code for pick-up is 53154. There are lots of options for shipping motorcycles. I have recently used both Daily Direct and Allied with success, but there are plenty of other options. I am not in a position to obtain shipping quotes for you. I can have the bike available for collection at any time from 9.00am to 6.30pm. There is no Buy-it-Now and I will not end the auction early.

2008 was an interesting year in the world of motorcycles. But the biggest stories of 2008 have left some big questions for 2009. What’s in store for the New Year?

AMA Supercross: 2012 Los Angeles Results

Mon, 23 Jan 2012

Chad Reed won his first race of the 2012 AMA Supercross season in Los Angeles but the victory was overshadowed by a first-lap collision that left Trey Canard and Ryan Morais with broken backs. Racing for Team Honda Muscle Milk, Canard was injured on the first lap after catching a piece of some signage. That forced him to single a triple jump, putting him in the path of Star Valli Yamaha rider Ryan Morais who landed on Canard from behind.

Do WSB bikes need fake headlights?

Mon, 02 Jul 2012

Next year's WSB bikes must carry fake headlight stickers to make them look like their road-going equivalents – and Kawasaki previewed the new look at yesterday's race at Aragon. The idea is to add to WSB's road bike links and to further distinguish the bikes from the latest breed of CRT MotoGP machines. However, it means adding meaningless stickers on a large and potentially valuable acreage of prime sponsorship space on the bike's nose, with much of the rest already taken up by the rider's number; not necessarily a good thing when money is already hard to find in international racing.
