The Ninja 650 is a middleweight, parallel-twin engined motorcycle. It's designed for normal use on paved roads. The modern styling and features, with low-seating ergonomics, a low center of gravity, and respectable, manageable power output make this a very attractive, yet affordable motorcycle. The Ninja 650 appeals to a wide-ranging audience from newcomers to seasoned riders. The engine is relatively unusual in employing a 180 degree crankshaft. This results in an uneven firing interval (180 degrees, 540 degrees) which gives the engine note a distinctive throbbing quality. The motorcycle fits above the Ninja 250R and Ninja 500R models, which already existed in Kawasaki's sportbike lineup. So what are we looking at? It seems to be the deformed love child of a Citroën Xantia and a Kawasaki 1000 RX. This custom project, called “Snaefell“, cost its creator about 15000 Euros and 10 years of part time work.

Japan Needs Your Help
Thu, 17 Mar 2011By now, we’ve all seen pictures and video of the devastation in Japan following the March 11 earthquake and the ensuing tsunamis. Japan, of course, has contributed much to motorcycling, with the Big Four of Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha, as well as tire manufacturer Bridgestone, helmet companies Arai and Shoei and many other motorcycle industry stalwarts all coming from the Land of the Rising Sun. Jon Bekefy and Greg Hatton, two motorcycle enthusiasts, industry employees and above all, humanitarians, have set up a fundraising campaign benefiting the Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan.
