The Ninja 650 is a middleweight, parallel-twin engined motorcycle. It's designed for normal use on paved roads. The modern styling and features, with low-seating ergonomics, a low center of gravity, and respectable, manageable power output make this a very attractive, yet affordable motorcycle. The Ninja 650 appeals to a wide-ranging audience from newcomers to seasoned riders. The engine is relatively unusual in employing a 180 degree crankshaft. This results in an uneven firing interval (180 degrees, 540 degrees) which gives the engine note a distinctive throbbing quality. The motorcycle fits above the Ninja 250R and Ninja 500R models, which already existed in Kawasaki's sportbike lineup. EICMA 2011: Kawasaki Versys 1000 Not Coming to U.S.
Wed, 09 Nov 2011While Kawasaki unveiled its Versys 1000 at EICMA, don’t expect to see it on American roadways any time soon (edit: but if you live north of the border in Canada you’re in luck, as it will offered for CN$13,999, a bit higher than the Z1000 but the same price as the Ninja 1000): What will we be missing? A bigger, badder version of the original Kawasaki Versys seems to be the answer. “Created as the long-awaited big brother of Kawasaki’s mid-size any-road street surfer, the new Versys 1000 is designed to enable the greatest riding enjoyment in the widest variety of street riding situations,” Kawasaki Motors Europe says in a release.
2014 Kawasaki KLR650 New Edition Revealed
Fri, 13 Dec 2013Kawasaki revealed an updated version of its popular KLR650 dual-sport at the New York International Motorcycle Show. The new KLR650 isn’t exactly a full model-year replacement as Kawasaki had already announced the 2014 model; instead Kawasaki is calling it the KLR650 New Edition, offering it for a retail price of $6,599, a $100 premium over the “old edition” KLR650. The extra Benjamin Franklin gets you new springs for both front and rear suspension, multi-contour dimpled seat and revised graphics.
