Kawasaki KLX description
Up for your consideration is my beloved 2003 Kawasaki KLX400 supermoto, aka "The Green DRZ". The bike has been modified, for both practical and general power boosts, from head to toe. A lot of time, money, and effort went into this bike, so my loss is your gain. It's unlike the majority of DRZ400SM's for sale on craigslist that are selling more for less just because they're newer. This bike is already set up for you to hop on and ride off - with the added bonus of already been modified.
My history with the bike: I purchased the bike in February, 2016, essentially, as a bike for my girlfriend to learn on, she's a novice, and for me have a bike to mess around town with. Since there was still snow on the ground, it became my project bike, and didn't leave my apartment living room (that was fun) for the following two months. I swapped a few parts, upgraded (see list below), and gave it a nice all-around boost in performance. Where you see the bike in the pictures is how far I've taken the bike. It hasn't left the community other for me to get gas down the road. She hasn't even driven on the road yet, and mainly putz around the community while I watch. Reason I'm selling: I love the bike, I think it'd be a fun commuter for myself, but the bike is for her. She's a true beginner, has very little strength as it is and I don't want her to drop the bike and hurt herself or the bike, so I'm looking for a WR250x for her instead. I've owned one before to learn on myself, that's the bike she truly started learning on many years ago before I sold it, so it looks like I'll have to take a step backwards and get another one for her. The bike has been lowered considerably. The seat height is about 30-31" (with an additional drop in sag, depending on your weight). I'm 5'5-1/2", 185 lbs, and I'm completely flat footed. My girlfriend weighs lighter, about 110 lbs, so she's on the balls of her feet. I've kept the bike in great shape. Everything has been inspected (TLOCS every time before and after), tightened, adjusted, and set up so the bike is sound every ride, plus it has the added bonus of having all the additional upgrades for when she's out on the street and highway and exploring around. Unfortunately, we haven't gotten the opportunity to do that. Here's the list of modifications and maintenance: Seat Concepts Complete Seat (low version) DRZ2 KoubaLink Lowering Link (1-1/8" lowering version) Tusk Universal Big Bar Clamp Kit & raised handlebars Keihin FCR30 MX Carb (4hp gain) Yamaha Raptor Petcock (ON/OFF/RESERVE) Shrink and UV resistant racing (clear) fuel line from tank to Carb JDKH32 Conversion Kit Yoshimura RS-2 full racing exhaust (all around gains) Moto House Muffler Slider (full) Steel Braided Front Brake Line E3 Spark Plug EBC Oversize 320mm Supermoto Big Brake Kit EBC Brake Pads 3x3 Air Box Mod 15/41 gearing FZ09 mirrors installed with mirror riser adapters Manual Cam Chain Tensioner Seal Saver Zip-Ons (for easily removing off forks) Aftermarket horn & horn relocation mod (behind headlight) Outlaw Raching OR139 Reusable Oil Filter (forever reusable oil filter) Stator and Starter Clutch LocTite Fix Shorai Lithium-Iron Battery Eddie Sisneros Fan Override Switch & relocation mod Pro Taper EVO 1-1/8" YZ Bend Pro Grips Yamaha R6 Throttle Tube Mishimoto Silicone Radiator Hose Kit (black) installed Devon Radiator Guards installed UNI air filter D.I.D chain Excel Takasago Signature Series Rims (the Excel Rims you'd actually want) with Talon Hubs Trail Tech X2 70W Halogen Headlight Acerbis Universal Front Fender Free power mod Black zip-tie mod (that's right; all the zip ties are black. I'm that anal.) Tucked in, covered with rubber hose & wrapped up as many electrical wires as possible for additional protection New DRZ400 coolant reservoir Aftermarket (wider) footpegs SM speedo converter Bike currently does not have radiator shrouds on them, since I just installed the radiator guards, but I do have them. If you updated the plastics, you'd essentially have a brand new bike. Maintenance: Valve Clearance Check was completed on 6/3/2016 - all clear Coolant flushed and topped off 6/3/2016. Front and rear brakes bled & replaced with Bel-Ray Super DOT-4 Brake fluid (completed on 6/3/2016) Suzuki Coolant Temperature Thermoswitch replaced on 6/08 (peace of mind) Suzuki Cooling Fan Thermoswitch on 6/08 (peace of mind) Uni filter cleaned and lubed after every few rides (last cleaned 7/1/2016) Tossed original radiator hoses and had them replaced with Mishimoto Silicone Radiator Hose Kit (6/15/2016) Chain lubed with Mosul C5 chain paste every or every other ride Replaced any lose or previously stripped screw with new stainless Additional: I have a set of new uninstalled EBC rear brake pads that come with the bike as well. For those "vertically challenged", with the lowered forks, seat, and lowering link, the seat sits at about 30". It'll sag based upon your weight. Suspension adjustments can always be made for you on your own time. Pickup preferred. SHIPPING IS BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY. Any questions, comments, concerns, feel free to message me. I'll answer any questions I can promptly. Thanks! |

WSBK 2013: Monza Race Report
Mon, 13 May 2013Eugene Laverty and Marco Melandri split a pair of victories at Monza but the most biggest news from the World Superbike weekend was a strange series of appeals after Race Two that saw Tom Sykes finish third, relegated to fourth and then reinstated on the final step of the podium. The unusual mix-up occurred after Sykes, sitting in third place, ran off track and into the run off area on Turn 5 on his final lap. The Kawasaki rider returned to the track again in third place where he finished ahead of Aprilia‘s Sylvain Guintoli.

The Race SCU is programed to transform the Öhlins Mechatronic, electronically controlled OEM-fitted steering damper on the latest ZX-10R into race mode, allowing it to meet the demands of the track. From the factory, the Öhlins electronically controlled steering damper is tuned to be adaptive to a broad range of street riding, from parking lots to legal speeds.
Church of MO: 1997 Kawasaki ZX-6
Sun, 15 May 2022Twenty-five years ago, the 1997 Kawasaki ZX-6 had not yet grown an “R.” It came with a centerstand, dual exhausts, and weighed 430 pounds full of 4.8 gallons of unleaded fuel. The leaded stuff hadn’t been phased out until one year earlier, which may explain a lot about the mental condition of many of us Boomers. It was a great, inexpensive, do-anything motorcycle in other words.
