Kawasaki Other description

Note: Buyer will handle all shipping cost. . .thank you

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Seller prefer buyers from nearby cities around Desert Hot Springs, California. Cities such as San Bernardino, Beaumont, Banning, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella, Mecca and other nearby locations.

Distant bidders and out of state bidders are welcome to participate and bid. However if you win the auction and buy the bike. .it might cost you more for shipping.

For bid is a former 1996 KZ1000 Police Motorcycle (Not Running). However it would be an AWESOME FIX-ER UPPER bike. When it will be a running bike, it will be a beautiful vintage 1996 police motorcycle bike. As you can see in the photos that it has a perfect body, complete luggage racks and very dependable tires. This bike is ' nice and clean '. All law enforcement lightings and equipments have been removed. The bike is now for civilian use.

I just don't have the time and some money to get this bike running again. So, to get it running again the following are things the new buyer will have to handle:

1.  Please see photo #7. It has a small crack on the upper left header causing an oil leak. The crack is covered with steal bondo to stop the leak. It does not affect the performance of the engine when the engine is running only that it leaks very little from time to time. I know someone in the local area that can fix this for a nominal fee.

2.  The bike needs a new battery. The former battery had been re-charged several times and subsequently died out. The bike needs a new battery anyway.

3.  The bike needs 4 new spark plugs (NGK brand recommended). The old plugs were removed to keep the inside from corroding. The plugs wire connectors are still in very good condition.

4.  The 2 front side lights need to be re-connected with the 2 clear side lights which are on the bike already (the Fairing). This side lights used to be where the front red and blue light used to be. The front headlight works, the tail / brake light works, the turn signal lights work and the emergency amber lights work.

5.  The front windshield needs to be cleaned with a plexi-glass solvent. It's a little obscure right now but it's still acceptable condition. You can still see what's in front of you.

6.  The horn connection needs to be looked at. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't. I'm sure it's something minor. It's a small factory horn. .maybe it needs a new horn. (nobody uses horn from the motorcycle anymore. I know..I don't).

7.  The bike seat has a minor rip towards the front of the seat (about 3"). The rip will be stitched and fixed before the buyer takes over the bike.

8.   Last but not least, the bike carburetor needs to be cleaned thoroughly by a professional. But if you can do it. .then there you go. .you can save some money. Again I know someone in the local area that can do this for a nominal fee.

Now the following are the positive things about the bike:

1.  The chain and the sprocket are in very good condition almost excellent.

2.  The tires have lots of threads in them (please see photos). They are dependable.

3.  The tire wheels/rims are also in very good condition almost excellent.

4.  The front fairing is in very good condition (please see photos).

5.  The luggage racks and the top box are in very good condition (already mentioned above).

6.  The crash bar and the feet boards are all in very good condition almost excellent.

7.  The chrome guards around the racks are in excellent condition.

8.  The chrome covers at the sides of the engine are also in excellent condition.

9.  All the other chromes around the engine and the exhaust muffler chormes are also in excellent condition.

10. Last but not least (besides the torn rip will be fixed) that KZ1000 Police Motorcycle seat is the most 'COMFORTABLE' motorcycle seat in the world. I could ride on this seat for hours and hours without feeling a single pain in the butt.

So there it is. . with a little TLC and some money, the lucky buyer would have a nice clean running bike and a vintage one at that. Come to think of it. . this KZ1000 Police bike 1996 model is a classic one. I thinks it's the only year that it came with real chromes on the sides of the engine. I have seen other year model KZ1000's without the chromes.

Happy Ebaying. . . .

To celebrate the release of the D-Air race suit in the UK, Dainese are offering the first 20 customers to order a complete V.I.P treatment at the upcoming World Superbike round at Silverstone. The iconic safety brand will have each of the customer's suits personally tailored, with measurements undertaken by a Dainese D-Air engineer from the factory in Italy. Following this, the first 20 customers to register will receive a hospitality lunch, garage tours of the Aprilia, BMW and Kawasaki teams with the opportunity to meet the Dainese riders and rub well protected shoulders with the big names of the WSB paddock.
