Published almost everywhere, It starts as a 1978 KZ650 where the cylinders have been bored and sleeved to 830cc with a MTC big bore kit from the late 70s. The upper case has been machined as well. Hard to find 1978 Kawasaki Z1R, Kawasaki's entry into the Superbike war of 1978. Good running, well kept bike. Bike was painted black sometime in the 1980's and the stripe kit to duplicate the 1980 Z1R paint job was added later. There are small nicks and dings but is still shiny and presentable. Seat is cover is a very nice newer duplicate. Exhaust is a Vance and Hines 4 into 1 that's a few years old and in very good condition. Not real loud but has a nice sound. Bike runs good, tank is clean inside and it has no oil or gas leaks. Tires are older but serviceable. Original kickstarter lever that belongs under the seat is gone and stock windshield was replaced 2 years ago. Have the little chrome cover that goes over the seat lock but the spring is missing. Fresh oil change and new battery. Everything works but the fuel gauge. Overall a good rider quality bike or a good candidate for full restoration. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. But unlike the current parallel-twin Ninja 400, which is essentially a budget bike dressed in sportbike clothes, this newest model is worthy of the ZX prefix, as it boasts proper suspension, twin radial brakes, a full electronics suite, and chassis geometry inspired by its ZX-6R and ZX-10R siblings – oh, and let’s not forget – a compact four-banger that will rev to over 15,000 rpm!
