1978 - Kawasaki KZ1000 A2 Motorcycle (1978)
Here is a very nice low mileage bike that I picked up some time ago. When I purchased the bike it needed a little bit of attention so here is what I've done to it: It has a new seat, new rear grab bar, and had a professional paint job put on it that is fantastic- looks awesome! It has complete airbox system and owner's manual. I replaced the header with a set of very nice stock exhaust from a '79 KZ 1000, they look great on the bike. The bike runs GREAT, all electrical functions are working properly, good brakes and tires. The pictures don't due this bike justice, it is absolutely beautiful! 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000, I have owned this bike since 1994, nearly 30 years. I have decided to sell because I don't ride it at all anymore and someone should enjoy this bike. It has sat unused for too long and needs to appreciated by a new owner. I have set a reserve that is very reasonable when considering all the extra parts you are getting. I had the bike tuned and running last summer, rode it 2X's and it has been sitting since. I tried to start bike yesterday, battery was dead, I tried kick starting it for about 15 minutes and gave up. I am done with messing with it. It will run with very little effort. I am selling a huge collection of parts with the bike as well. Everything goes as a package deal. Many original parts are included in sale. Bike comes with nearly all the parts to put it back to showroom stock if you choose to go that route except, handlebars, exhaust, and air cleaner. Bike is mainly stock with some bolt-ons: Vance and Hines exhaust, Dyna Ignition and coils, K&N Air filters, Braided Steel brake Lines, Corbin seat, etc. Engine internals are stock: only 19K miles on engine. I am positive of it. Bike is complete. It is painted with a very deep purple PPG custom color. looks black until you get it into sunlight, then you can see the candy color. Bike currently has spoked wheels on it, but comes with aluminum mag-style wheels. One of the rear wheels is from a Police KZ1000 and worth a few $$$'s. Included in the extra parts list: :KZ1000 Plaque, foot brake assembly, kick stand, center stand, turn signal assembly, original rear fender, shifter levers, brake levers, headlight housing, mirror, front fork stabilizer, ignition cover, rear shocks, extra fuel tank, side covers, 2 original style seats: one totally original flat seat/original stitching/perfect condition, another stepped original seat that was re-upholstered., 2 sissy bars, oil cooler, chrome bolt kits, 3 sprockets, chain guard, 3 mag style wheels- 1 front, 2 rear, Top-end of engine assy: cylinder bores, cylinder head, 6 carbs, cams, valves and springs, etc all fasteners, these have been taken apart in a "semi-organized" manner and bagged No damage to bores. There is NOT a crank or rods here. The photos show quite clearly what is included. If you have any questions, let me know. I'd hate to sell this beautiful classic motorcycle, but need to make room for other things. This bike needs nothing. This year the carbs were ultrasonically cleaned and synched. The tank was cleaned and coated with Kleen. I also put new steering bearings, upgraded to All Balls needle bearings instead of the crappy ball bearings they came with. It has fresh oil in the engine and in the down tubes. New plugs and air filter. Tires have a few hundred miles in them. It also comes with shorter chrome shocks if you wish to lower it. The stock shocks are 13" and the shorter ones are 11". The paint is the original 35 year old paint and it still shines. The tank has a few minor dings (you'd have to look for them) and the clearcoat has faded a little bit in some areas. Like I said, it needs nothing, just a rider. But unlike the current parallel-twin Ninja 400, which is essentially a budget bike dressed in sportbike clothes, this newest model is worthy of the ZX prefix, as it boasts proper suspension, twin radial brakes, a full electronics suite, and chassis geometry inspired by its ZX-6R and ZX-10R siblings – oh, and let’s not forget – a compact four-banger that will rev to over 15,000 rpm!

The alternative energy models are part of Kawasaki’s efforts to reach carbon neutrality, with production models expected to launch in the next two to three years.
