Kawasaki Other description

2015 Kawasaki Concours® 14 ABS

The Endless Pursuit

If you’re looking for a sport-tourer that has the power of a supersport motorcycle and a comfortable touring package, the 2015 Kawasaki Concours14 ABS motorcycle is the ultimate option. Based largely on the Ninja® ZX™-14R and equipped with an adjustable windshield with a new vent, as well as a redesigned seat, the Concours14 brings the thrill of a supersport to the promise of the open road. And of course rider support functions such as the recalibrated K-ACT ABS, KTRC traction control, fuel economy assistance mode, and the KIPASS ignition security system make this bike one of the most sophisticated supersport-tourers on the market.

Features may include:
    • Engine

Based on the extremely powerful Ninja ZX-14R, the 1352cc in-line four-cylinder engine produces smooth power delivery throughout the extremely wide rev range. The variable valve timing improves the flexibility and efficiency of the engine by altering the intake camshaft profile to boost low-end and mid-range power. The compact and narrow engine design minimizes weight for massive performance making the Concours14 an impressive supersport-tourer.

      • Frame

Also based on the ZX-14R, the monocoque frame of the Concours14 is light and rigid. Hollow aluminum box sections arch over the engine from the steering head to the swingarm pivot, and the engine acts as a stressed frame member to increase the frame’s torsional rigidity.

        • Kawasaki Traction Control(KTRC)

Control is everything, especially in wet weather, which is why the KTRC (or Kawasaki Traction Control) system is so valuable. The KTRC system reduces engine output when wheel-spin is detected, helping the rear tire to regain grip in a way that feels natural and smooth. Advanced, three-way control (airflow, ignition timing, fuel delivery) gives KTRC smooth operation and the ability to operate on long stretches of rough roads.

          • Slipper Clutch

Sudden downshifts can be smoothed out as all Concours14 models are equipped with a slipper clutch for smooth, confident shifting. During sudden deceleration, the racinginspired slipper function allows some clutch slippage to help prevent engine lock-up, stalling and rear-wheel hop.

            • Suspension & Brakes

Highly rigid 43mm inverted forks add to the Concours14’s superb handling and feel. And if the situation calls for a sudden stop, the revised and recalibrated Kawasaki Coactive-braking Technology (K-ACT) ABS system is smaller and more precise, with revised settings for improved performance. Two selectable modes provide superb sport control and inspire rider confidence.

Do WSB bikes need fake headlights?

Mon, 02 Jul 2012

Next year's WSB bikes must carry fake headlight stickers to make them look like their road-going equivalents – and Kawasaki previewed the new look at yesterday's race at Aragon. The idea is to add to WSB's road bike links and to further distinguish the bikes from the latest breed of CRT MotoGP machines. However, it means adding meaningless stickers on a large and potentially valuable acreage of prime sponsorship space on the bike's nose, with much of the rest already taken up by the rider's number; not necessarily a good thing when money is already hard to find in international racing.

Old Dog, New Tricks: Tackling The LA-Barstow To Vegas Dual-Sport Ride

Mon, 05 Dec 2022

Joining the 39th running of the famed event on a Ducati DesertX and a Kawasaki KLX300 Credit: Photos by Cait Maher, Evans Brasfield, Grumpy, and Ryan Adams Let’s be honest, dual-sport motorcycles aren’t really designed for touring, despite my best efforts ( here and here). The bikes are merely street-legal dirt bikes without much accommodation for creature comfort. So, spending 220-ish miles flat in the saddle from Las Vegas, NV to Palmdale, CA, mostly on Interstate 15, is a platform for cataloging discomforts, and after riding approximately 360 miles, mostly off road over the two previous days, my aches-and-pains were legion.
