2013 Kawasaki Z1000, Simply Irresistable!The Z1000 has a 1,043cc inline-four engine with DFI, a lightweight aluminum frame, a fully adjustable inverted front fork, horizontal rear monoshock which features stepless rebound damping and spring preload adjustability, and the radial-mounted four-piston front brake calipers and a radial-pump front brake master cylinder combined with 300mm discs create excellent stopping power.

Internally known as the Sugomi design language, Kawasaki says “Someone, or something, possessing sugomi inspires awe, leaves an indelible impression, is daunting in stature or ability, and commands respect.” Maybe it does, or maybe it doesn’t, but angular lines and sharp creases also alienate a section of the motorcycling world who like the modern tech and power from Kawasaki’s Z line, but could do without the sugomi styling.

Tue, 18 Feb 2014World Superbike testing at Phillip Island came to a close today, and when the dust settled, reigning champion Tom Sykes stamped his authority, setting the fastest time of the test at 1:30.239, just five thousandths shy of the outright lap record held by Carlos Checa. The time was set during the morning session of testing, though nobody was able to best Sykes for the remainder of the day. Eugene Laverty, who was fastest on day one, showed his pace was no fluke as he stayed near the top of the time sheets, ultimately finishing second behind Sykes, with a best time of 1:30.513.
