Kawasaki Other description

I have up for auction my 2000 Kawasaki W650.  I had planned for this to be the last of the 9 motorcycles I have owned these past 43 years and would keep it until too old to ride.  Back surgery 16 days ago changed those plans.  This W650 was purchased in 2001 by a senior citizen that took extreme care with it.  I drove 800 miles to purchase it from him in 2005.  It had 3000 miles when I bought it and I put another 5,226 miles these past 8 years.  I am also a senior citizen and I rode it gently, never in the rain, and then kept it in my garage, covered, and hooked to a battery tender.  I don't have to go into details as you probably have done a search and know all about it.  It was brought here for 2 years in a small number for 2000 and 2001.  It remained in production until either 2006 or 2007 for the rest of the world where it sold very well.  It has been brought back recently as the W800 with a bore and fuel injection and a few cosmetic changes.  Many parts are interchangeable so this bike could easily be kept on the road for many more decades.  I ride about 60mph (my comfort zone) and it has gotten as much as 60mpg at that speed.  It is a bike of modest power and certainly no sport-bike.  One time when I had first purchased it I was riding with my brother and a friend on their 1100 Shadow and 800 Vulcan.  I asked them to pull out as fast as they could on a deserted highway, I wanted to see if I could keep up.  I blew past them like they were standing still and when I looked at the speedometer I nearly had a heart attack.  It will hit 100mph easily but not with me on it again.  I take it easy even though when I was young I won some awards in National Enduros in the 1970's.
This bike is original except for the gel hand-grips which were more comfortable for me.  Also the first owner had cut out the ends for bar end weights on lower bars.  He had the stock bars which I put back on.  Everything works great, it runs and shifts fine, the tires have 200 miles on them (OEM Bridgestone Accolades)  The front brake pads have 500 miles on them, and it just had an oil change.  I changed the oil and filter every 1000 miles.  If I could I would ride it anywhere.  The Texas License and Registration is good until Feb. 2014, and the Safety inspection is not up until March 2014.  I still would choose this bike over the competition because of the many standard features:  Kick stand and center stand, fork boots, tank pads, kick start and electric start, tach, and time, distance, and mileage digital read-out on the speedometer.  It has a great tool kit with an extra hex wrench for the front axle.  The cable in the picture (under the seat) is for the battery tender which goes with the bike.
The selling details will be listed in their categories.  Buyer makes shipping arrangements, sale is final, and there are no warranties and returns.  If you pick it up in person and feel it does not look as nice as the pictures, I will refund your deposit.  I will not give refunds once it leaves my garage.  I want a $1,000.00 PayPal deposit within 72 hours of auction end.  Full payment within 7 days.  Cash in person, or a cashiers check that has been cleared by my bank prior to shipping.  (After receiving full payment I can store in my garage for 30 days.)
There are only a handful of these W650's with less than 10,000 miles and this bike is beautiful and ready to ride.  I wish I could keep it, but at 473 pounds with gas and oil, my back and right leg can not handle it.  It needs to be ridden.

ABS Option Coming for 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Classic, Nomad and Vaquero

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

Anti-lock brake technology has become fairly commonplace for motorcycles now, and it sometimes comes as a bit of a surprise when a major manufacturer does not offer ABS as an option on certain models. The European Parliament making ABS mandatory by 2016 has helped push things along, as manufacturers work to equip their models with the technology ahead of the deadline, not just for the European market but also for other markets including the U.S. New documents released by the California Air Resources Board reveal Kawasaki will offer an ABS version for its 2014 Vulcan 1700 cruisers and tourers for American consumers.

Motorcycle Sidecar is Literally a Car

Adjectives fail me.  This almost seems like one of those sci-fi movies where an evil scientist tries to cross two deadly animals together to create the ultimate killing machine. So what are we looking at?  It seems to be the deformed love child of a Citroën Xantia and a Kawasaki 1000 RX. This custom project, called “Snaefell“, cost its creator about 15000 Euros and 10 years of part time work.

Isle of Man TT 2012: Superstock TT Results

Mon, 04 Jun 2012

John McGuinness put another notch in his belt, capturing his 19th career victory in the Isle of Man TT by winning the Royal London 360 Superstock TT race. Despite leading all active racers in TT wins, the Superstock victory was just the first in that category for McGuinness. The Honda rider led from start to finish in the four-lap Superstock TT race.
