Indian 741 tech info
Indian 741 description
For sale my 1942 Indian 741 (Civilian Scout) project. This was to the bike of my dreams. But a crippling injury and the rest of life has ended that dream.
I have everything for this. You can see in one picture all the rest of the parts. Wiring harness, cables, lines, switches, boards, horn, decals, center stand clip, etc. What you can't see is the new brake shoes and turned hubs (installed) and exhaust (forgot to take pic). The engine and trans were rebuilt and bored to 650cc by Randy Walker of Walker Machine (if you know Indians you know Randy) and is fresh and ready to finish and run. The tool box, tanks and fenders are from Iron Horse Corral in the 38-39 style. It is converted to 12V. New Zenith Carburetor. The frame, hubs, crash bar, and other black parts were powder coated black here. Many other parts were chromed when the bike was overseas. It was sent to the UK Commonwealth forces in India before it went to Germany where I bought it. It is ready for you to finish and paint in the manner of your choice. On Jul-27-16 at 19:46:43 PDT, seller added the following information: To clear up some info, the Carburetor is a new 38mm Zenith Bendix. |

Mahindra teaser video revealed
Tue, 14 Sep 2010WE GAVE you the heads up last month on Mahindra Motorcycles' plans to enter the lucrative Indian motorcycle market - and here's a teaser video showing one of the company's machines on track in Italy. Collection Of Rare Indian Motorcycles Up For Auction, March 8
Tue, 14 Jan 2014On March 8, four rare Indian motorcycles, some of which date back over a century, will be up for auction at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. Now in its 16th year, the single-day sale includes a stunning roster of more than 80 investment-quality vehicles including a stellar group of early Indian motorcycles. The oldest of the collection is a 1909 Indian 5HP Light Twin. This model is significant as it marks Indian’s departure from using modified bicycle frames to incorporating loop frames, previously only seen on the company’s racing motorcycles. A new, streamlined torpedo-type gas tank was fitted between the upper and lower tank rails, and oil was carried in a large capacity half-gallon tank that was fixed to the frame beneath the seat.
Indian introduces new PowerPlus engine
Wed, 20 Nov 2019The apparatus with a 60-degree camber of the cylinder block can hardly be called the “little brother” of the 1811cc Thunder Stroke 111 engine - its capacity is 1769cc, but in terms of design solutions, the motors are fundamentally different. Let's start with the fact that, according to the manufacturer, the new engine is the most powerful in its class - it develops 121hp at 5500rpm and 178 Nm at 3800 rpm. PowerPlus, like the Scout motor, has an overhead camshaft, is equipped with four valves per cylinder and hydraulic compensators, eliminating the need to adjust clearances, the cooling is liquid.
