Honda Shadow description

2 owner bike. 1st owner 80 year old male. Female owned since 2006. Bike had aprox. 9,000 miles when I bought it. It's been a great ride - to Sturgis, SD; to Sturgis, KY - and many places in between.

Engine

  • The 2000 VT1100C3 Shadow Aero sports a liquid-cooled 1,099cc single overhead cam v-twin engine, which utilizes a single pin crank. This engine features three self-adjusting hydraulic valves for each cylinder, totaling six valves in all. The fuel system utilizes twin 36 mm CV diaphragm-type carburetors. The bore measures 87.5 mm, while the stroke measures 91.4 mm. This engine has a compression ratio of 8.0 to 1, and features a solid-state digital ignition system.

Transmission & Suspension

  • The Shadow Aero employs a five-speed wide ratio manual transmission, with a shaft final drive and heel-toe shifter. The front suspension uses a 41 mm fork, with 150 mm of travel, while the rear suspension features a dual shock system with five-way springs. The rear suspension provides 95mm of travel during operation.

Brakes & Tires

  • The front wheel of the Shadow Aero uses a single 316 mm disc brake with a twin-piston caliper, while the rear wheel features a 276 mm disc brake equipped with a single-piston caliper. The front wheel is designed to accommodate an 140/80-17 tire, while the rear fits a 170/80-15 tire. Both stock tires on the Shadow Aero are whitewall tires, adding a touch of nostalgic retro styling to the bike.

Dimensions & Color Options

  • The Shadow Aero sports a wheelbase of 66.1 inches, while the seat comes in at 28.5 inches high. The dry weight of this motorcycle is 615 pounds, and it can hold about 3.7 gallons of fuel. This fuel tank has been modified to hold aprox. 5.5 gallons of fuel.  The Shadow Aero comes in a solid black, as well as several two-tone color choices, including black and pearl beige, black and red, and black and yellow.

Customization

  • Full fairing has been added - including Philips stereo w/ 5X7 speakers
  • Highway Bars w/ foot pegs
  • Floor boards
  • Vance & Hines longshots
  • Chrome fender tips
  • Road Queen customization (probably removable on the fenders - tank is decals, not painted - doubt it would be removable without repainting)

Honda Likes to Dress Up

Fri, 31 Oct 2008

Who doesn’t love Halloween? Well my neighbor down the street who turns off all his lights and flips the sprinklers on for Halloween night doesn’t, but he’s a jerk. Honda was in a Halloween spirit when they came up with this ad campaign consisting of some of their rides “dressed” in ridiculous outfits.
