Honda Other description

1982 Honda MB5. Imported for 1 year only into the US. Top speed was over 50 MPH from a 49cc with a 5 speed transmission (with small rider). The MB5 has several features normally found on bigger bikes: a speedometer, a tachometer (with a redline of 10,500 rpm), and front disc brake. It takes strait fuel in the tank and has a large oil injection tank that lasts a long time.

I am the third owner of this bike. It starts with one kick, (see video link) runs and idles very well. The motor is very quiet and quite peppy for 49cc. Everything on the bike is in very good condition. It has a new jell battery and the carburator was cleaned 4 months ago. The tank was sealed with a Caswell tank sealer and also has a new inline fuel filter. There is a tiny scratch on the tank (see picture) and a small dent. The muffler has two tiny dings, and the muffler guard has a bend on the bottom. One turn signal housing is cracked. The headlight bulb needs replaced.

Mick Doohan NSR500 art sculpture

Wed, 04 Apr 2012

How do you best immortalise the great Mick Doohan and the big bang Honda NSR500 with which he dominated Grand Prix racing in the 90s? An Australian artist has answered this by creating an art installation that sees a hand-created replica of the bike exploded and suspended from the ceiling. The Doohan piece is appropriately titled 'The Big Bang' and as artist Eamon O'Tootle describes, "It is a complex sculpture comprising thousands of parts joining to make up a whole and symbolic tribute to the true inherent nature of art and sport – the creativity of design, where the mechanical is modified to suit the needs of man." Eamon added: "The way the Doohan piece came about was that one of the bikes Mick rode had an engine configuration called the Big Bang.

2012 Honda Gold Wing Tour: Part 4

Fri, 20 May 2011

Yesterday aboard the 2012 Honda Gold Wing was quite an eye opener. I had shared my impressions of some of the upgrades to the new Wing in blog posts earlier in the week (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3), but these focused mostly on some comfort and convenience updates and the bike’s ability to eat up open stretches of pavement. But on this day we put the Wing to a completely different test: the Tail of the Dragon, US 129 in North Carolina.
