Cleaning out the garage - I'm downsizing to a condominium and the bikes have to go. I am the 2nd owner of this vintage CX500 that I bought in 1980. It sat in the garage unused for a number of years as I moved on to a Harley Davidson and just lost interest in it. I recently went through it and changed all the fluids and tinkered with it to get it ready for sale. Everything works - all the electrics, drive-train, ... although it does run poorly - unresponsive, surges a bit, but does idle just fine after it's warmed up. No doubt this is because the carbs are likely gunked from sitting too long so they need a thorough cleaning. This bike is all stock (except for the little clip-on windshield you see in the pictures). The tank is clean inside with no dents but there is a blemish to the graphic on the right side where I spilled some brake fluid while filling the master cylinder and a nick where the seat meets the tank (small). Seat is perfect - no rips or defects. The right fork seal weeps a little bit of oil (not bad enough to replace) but I did replace the left one as it was leaking too much. The tires look good but they're ancient and should be changed. It does have the markings on the crankcase showing the that stator has been serviced (original owner took care of that). It has all the normal wear and tear you would expect from a 35 year old bike. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!!! This auction is for a REALLY sweet 1970 Honda Z50A Mini Trail, VIN 307174. This is not a perfect museum piece, but HAS been painstakingly restored with lots of TLC. To start with, the engine has been totally rebuilt (bored first over, new piston and rings, valve job, automatic clutch totally gone through and adjusted, new points, engine cases and head beadblasted, all new seals and gaskets, etc) by a factory trained Honda mechanic with over 40 years of experience. You will actually have to BREAK THIS ENGINE IN (I’ve put about 10 minutes on the bike since rebuild)! The following have been replaced with either NOS or reproduction parts: steering bearings, seat (a stencil is included if you want to add the HONDA logo), wheel bearings, fork gaiters and bushings, wiring harness, front brake cable, front tire, rear brakes, headlight bulb, battery and strap, spark plug, drive chain, kickstand, dimmer switch, and of course, fresh oil. The following HARD TO FIND original parts are still on this bike: air cleaner, complete headlight and taillight assemblies, gas tank badges, chainguard, exhaust heat shield, battery box and rectifier, and factory muffler assembly. Mechanically, brakes work very well, automatic clutch is excellent, gearbox shifts great all through three gears, all lights work. Carb was completely rebuilt, bike starts on first or second kick and idles nicely. For Sale is a nice 1869 Honda sport 65 I have had sence the 1980's. This is a bike I tought my boys to ride on. They are both in their 30s now so it has just been setting on a shelf in my garage for years. I drained out the fuel and put fresh oil in at that time. A few years back I put on a new seat cover, peg rubbers, tail light and some new mirrors, but other than that it is pretty much original. This bike has less than 3000 actual miles. As expected with a bike of this age, there are some scratches and chips in the paint (no dents)and some rust on the chrome rims, but paint still has a very nice shine to it and plastic all still looks pretty good. Over all the bike is very nice. The title is still in original owners name but is signed off, I just never wanted to drive it on the road so I didn't change over. An inspection can be arranged by appointment only. If the bike needs to be shipped, we will ensure it is available for the transporter's schedule. Tue, 12 Nov 2013American racer Nicky Hayden made his first appearance with the Aspar Team, testing the Honda RCV1000R production racer at the official MotoGP post-season test at Spain’s Valencia circuit. Hayden completed 76 laps on the RCV1000R, posting a top lap time of 1:32.576, putting him 13th on the time sheet. The test time was 0.188 seconds faster than his top lap time in Sunday’s race at Valencia on the Ducati Desmosedici.

Italian Authorities Seize Alleged Knockoffs from EICMA Show – Again
Fri, 08 Nov 2013In what’s become somewhat of a dubious EICMA tradition, Italian authorities have seized scooters from various show exhibitors because their designs allegedly infringed on the designs of other manufacturers. Back in 2011, authorities seized a three-wheeled scooter called the Yiben YB 250 ZKT because it was deemed to resemble the Piaggio MP3. Last year, authorities seized six models from five exhibitors that allegedly infringed on the trademarked design of Vespa scooters.

Thu, 07 Nov 2013Honda Racing Corporation officially introduced its new RCV1000R production racer which will be sold to racing teams hoping to compete in MotoGP‘s new “Open” prototype class. The RCV1000R is based on Honda’s RC213V factory prototype, with the same chassis and a similar 90° V-4 engine claiming more than 234 hp at 16000 rpm. The key difference is the engine uses traditional spring valves whereas the valves on the RC213V are activated pneumatically.

For 2014, Honda is upping the ante with the CBR1000RR SP edition. No, it still doesn’t have any electronic aids, but it does have a bevy of top shelf suspension components.
EICMA 2013: Honda NC700 Family Gets Upgraded to 750 – But Not in US
Tue, 05 Nov 2013Honda announced at the 2013 EICMA show the NC700 series would get a number of upgrades including an extra 75cc in displacement. Unfortunately, it does not look like those upgrades will make it to the U.S. As Honda made its EICMA presentation American Honda announced a number of updates to returning 2014 models including the NC700X.

The original design team set out to create a machine that gave the rider a sense of challenge and the facility to explore. Powered by a 1237cc V-Four, it became a unique contender in its class.
EICMA 2013: 2014 Honda VFR800F
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Gracing the new 2014 VFR800F is traction control, ABS, heated grips, adjustable seat height and self-canceling blinkers. The V-Four-powered machine has been re-tuned for greater low and mid-range torque, and also receives a new telescopic fork, Pro-arm swingarm, wheels, new, slimmer bodywork and styling. Starting with the 782cc V4-VTEC engine, Honda engineers focused mainly on cam timing and valve duration/overlap to increase low-to midrange power and torque, claiming 104.5 hp @ 10,250 rpm and 55.4 ft-lbs of torque @ 8,500 rpm. Bore and stroke is 72mm x 48mm, with compression ratio of 11.8:1. VTEC valve timing still operates one pair of inlet/exhaust valves per cylinder at low rpm, and then switches to four as revs rise. Honda’s single-mode Traction Control System (TCS) is fitted as standard equipment and is operated from the left handlebar.
