Honda Other description

Up for sale is a 1982 Honda MB5 motorcycle.  It was only driven for a very very short time and has been in storage for many years.  It starts right up and has many new parts.  It has been brought back to life and makes an awesome run around bike.  I have put approximately 50 or so miles on it since getting it going again.  It starts up on the first kick and runs and drives and idles and stops well.  Please take notice of the pictures as that is exactly the current condition of the bike. I do not have a Georgia title for the bike as Georgia does not issue titles for many vintage bikes, but most states will issue a title for the vehicle upon inspection.  Since this is a 50cc bike I have never needed any title or tag for it since it is covered under the moped/scooter laws.

I purchased 2 other these motorcycles that have been in storage for 20+ years and I removed the best parts to sell on ebay for someone doing a restoration.  I took the other parts and put them together to get this bike running and driving.  It isn't perfect but it does what I wanted it to do which is start run stop and get me back home.

Here are the things I have noted:
Front brake caliper seems to be locked up.  I removed brake pads so front brake does NOT work

Fuel tank had many small leaks from a lackluster repair probably 25 years ago.  I sealed exterior of tank and it does not have any leaks currently but the tank does not look the best.  (I have a tank in excellent condition listed on ebay!)

Seat has some small tears/kicks on rear

Rear fender has been modified and the taillight lens is missing

Front headlight was rusted out/broken so I installed a LED light

REAR brakes work GREAT!

Rear tire was holding air but no longer is.  Will need tube at least but I would recommend replacing both tubes and tires as these appear to be the originals still.

ALL chrome parts have surface rust on them.  Some CLR and elbow grease should clean them up considerably.

The paint on most of the red surfaces is faded.

The tach does not currently work.  Cable is there but tach just clicks and stays around 4k rpm.

Speedometer works but seems to show a slightly slower speed than you are going.

NO KEY! There was not a key for the bike and so I modified the ignition to be like a dirtbike where you use the Run/Stop feature to start and turn bike off. NO BATTERY IS INSTALLED. A replacement ignition with key is around $30

The exhaust has not been cleaned out.  The baffle seems stuck and I am not sure how to remove it, but I have another exhaust that you could use if desired.

The carb has been cleaned.

Intake box has been cleaned and a NEW UNI filter has been installed in original air box.

New spark plug

Fresh trans oil.

Chain has been cleaned and lubed.

I have had it up to the low 50s for top speed.  This bike is definitely meant for cruising around town not long highway rides. When you get in the power band the bike really starts to move!

The bike takes a little bit to warm up in cold weather.  I usually use choke and let it idle and warm up for a few minutes before riding.

The oil reservoir has been removed and I have been premixing my gas and oil.  The oil injection is still there and I put new hoses in, but the tank had a cracked top corner so I removed it.  Believe it or not but a replacement tank can actually be picked up for around $40.

ALL in ALL its a cool old rat bike that starts runs and rides well.  It isnt perfect by any means but would make a great restoration candidate or a winter project.  I have many other parts available for it including some really nice parts that I have been listing separately.

I am INCLUDING another 1982 Honda MB5 parts bike with the sale.  It is in fair condition but needs many parts to get running and riding.  The transmission seems to shift smoothly. The engine has the top end removed and it does not come with the bike as the previous owners planned on installing a big bore kit and using this bike to take up to the  TRUE GRITS 50cc Bike Rally and Fun  Run in north Georgia.  It is an awesome even where many of these small bore 2 stroke guys get together for a fun weekend.  They have many parts that they purchased including gaskets and other miscellaneous items that will be included with the sale.  I have many parts in excellent condition also available and listed separately on ebay.  I AM INCLUDING ALL PARTS SHOWN IN THE LAST 2 PICTURES WITH THE SALE.  ALSO ANY ADDITIONAL PARTS THAT I LOCATE WILL ALSO BE THROWN IN WITH THE SALE.

I can be reached at (912) 223-8714.  Please let me know if you have any questions or if you need any specific parts and I can list them for you.   I would make a package deal for the  premium parts if you desire.  Please contact me for more information.

2012 Honda NC700X and NC700S Debut in Canada – MSRP Expected to be “Under $9000″ [Video]

Sat, 10 Dec 2011

There are no plans yet to bring either model to the U.S., but Honda is bringing its new NC700S and NC700X models to Canada for the summer of 2012. American Honda will however, likely be keeping a close eye on how the new models do with its northern neighbor (or perhaps “neighbour”) before deciding whether to import the NC700 models stateside. Making their North American debuts at the 2011 Toronto Motorcycle Show, the naked standard NC700S and the more adventure-touring styled NC700X represent a new product family for Honda, sharing the same frame and 670cc parallel Twin engine with each other and the Honda Integra scooter-motorcycle crossover (speaking of which, there are no plans for the Integra to come to either the U.S.

New Delhi Auto Expo 2012 – Motorcycle Manufacturers Draw Battle Lines for World’s Second Largest Market

Mon, 09 Jan 2012

In past years, the biennial Auto Expo in India slipped under the radar while the industry was focused more on shows such as EICMA in Italy and Intermot in Germany. But with India’s middle class starting to flex its financial muscle while other markets continue to struggle, the New Delhi show is becoming much more prominent, with major OEMs positioning themselves to claim a piece of the India’s 13 million vehicles-a-year market. We’ve already looked at India-produced Royal Enfield’s new Thunderbird 500 and Hero Moto’s hybrid scooter concept which debuted at the Auto Expo, and today we’ll look at what the major international OEMs presented.
