Honda Gold Wing description

2008 Honda Goldwing GL1800.  This low mileage bike is in beautiful shape and rides great. Never been down (ok, I did tip it over in my garage slowly, but no damage - and surprisingly easy to pick up). This model is the Premium Audio model.  The bike has lots of storage, factory controls for CB, tow package, cruise control, and wired for intercom.  I purchased it from an elderly gentleman in Arkansas a couple years ago with 16,000 miles on it.  He was the original owner.  I ran the bike in my rental fleet for Sacramento Motorcycle Rental a couple years, and I'm now selling it with only 35,325 miles.  The bike is in great shape and is a good runner, but it isn't renting enough to justify keeping it.

It is in excellent condition with normal wear and tear except that there are three parts with minor damage.  The front exhaust cover, located in the area of the right passenger foot board, is creased. Also, there is a cowl under the engine, comprised of a left and right half, not very visible, but it is pushed in on the front part more than it should be.  These issues were not enough to bother me or motivate me to fix them because they aren't obvious, but the parts are very easiliy replaced if you desire and would cost a total of just under $400 (per my searching on Babbitt's Honda online).

Front tire has lots of life left.  Rear tire has a quite a few miles left on it to go, but has squared off as most of these bikes tend to do.  It can be ridden on this rear tire for quite a while still, but you'll probably want to replace it before too long.

This bike is listed locally and may be removed from ebay at any time if sold locally.  I will do my best to immediately remove this listing upon local sale, but buyer acknowledges and agrees that sale may be cancelled, and seller is not responsible for anything to buyer, in the unlikely event the bike happens to have been sold locally just before buyer purchased through this listing.

Bike is sold as is.  $500 deposit due within 48 hours.  Full payment due within 7 days.  Cash or cashier's check accepted.  Bike and title will be withheld from buyer or buyer's shipper until payment cleared by bank.

Shipping/delivery is responsibility of buyer.  Buyer inspections welcome, but must be completed before purchase.  I will happily do what I can to accommodate buyer or buyer's shipper.  Bike can be picked up at my home in Placerville, California, or I can make the bike available in Sacramento, California at no additional charge.  For $250, and subject to my availability, I am willing to deliver the bike to Boise, ID (or anywhere in between Boise, ID and Placerville, CA) or to Los Angeles/Inland Empire, CA (or anywhere in between LA/IE and Placerville, CA.  Again, payment must be received and cleared first, and any inspections must be completed before sale.  If it is purchased, and I deliver, the deal is done and there will be no further price negotiation or adjustment.  I'm happy to answer questions, provide additional pictures, and accommodate inspections to satisfy all your needs before you click "buy it now" and clicking "buy it now" means you are satisfied with what you see and are paying the buy it now price.

Look forward to dealing with you on this great bike.

MotoGP should return to Suzuka

Thu, 14 Jul 2011

Suzuka was always one of the great circuits; unfortunately the Japanese track was dropped following the tragic death of Daijiro Kato in 2003 as the course was deemed too tight and dangerous for the rapid four-strokes. Owned by Honda, Suzuka is a magical place combining arching S-bends from the start of the lap, high-speed in the middle and finished off with the technical and oft racing deciding final chicane, the location of many fantastic last lap battles. However the death of Kato, and Honda’s major hope of a Japanese champion, placed a dark cloud over the 5.807 kilometres of tarmac.

Some of the best things happen in Holland - if you know where to look. For such a small country their can-do attitude has allowed them to conquer a great part of the developing World and most of the developed World with their prudent and er, careful attitude towards money. It's no coincidence that some of the most successful banking conglomerates are Dutch.  And then we have people doing this - just because they can - in their sheds.

When MotoGP had more money than sense

The year is 2003, there's plenty of cash in MotoGP. AMA Superbike champion Nicky Hayden joins Rossi at Repsol Honda and Biaggi and Ukawa front-up the Camel Honda squad. Exciting times..
