The Japanese oddity to naming teams

Whenever the calendar shifts to a major Japanese race, such as the Suzuka 8hr, one of the more amusing things to do is glance down the team sheet This years highlight for me has to be team Moto Bum, with other stand outs including aprilia D.D.BOYS, Team Etching Factory Yamaha and MITO MOTO & e'freaks Honda. Looking back through the ages some of the great Japanese team names have been Burning Blood Racing Team, Dog Fight Racing and Team Moto Space amongst others. Andrea Antonelli Dies After Moscow World Supersport Crash

Italian racer Andrea Antonelli succombed to injuries suffered in a crash during the World Supersport race at Moscow Raceway in Russia. The Go Eleven Kawasaki racer crashed on the final corner of the opening lap in very wet conditions, and was struck by Pata Honda racer Lorenzo Zanetti. The race was immediately red-flagged and Antonelli was taken away by ambulance while medical staff attempted to resuscitate him, but the 25-year-old was pronounced dead at 2:10 pm local time.

Ben Bostrom Events

Ex-racer Ben Bostrum might have stopped competing on motorcycles, but he hasn't given up his passion for two wheels. He's teamed up with motorsports promoter M1 to create Ben Bostrom Events, a company that plans to host world-class cycling and running races across the US. According to a press release, the high-intensity events will feature an 'entertainment-filled atmosphere', combining many of the familiar elements found at other MOB (mud, obstacles, beer) racing events.
