Honda CR description
Selling a 1974 Honda CR 125 Elsinore parts bike. If you are a fan of these bikes you already know that finding complete ones is getting extremely difficult. I was told by the previous owner that the motor was seized and then the bike was put into the corner of the garage an left there for quite a few years before I got to it. This bike is being sold as a parts bike or restoration project. Its probably one of the most recognized and sough after vintage 125's. As you Elsinore experts know this bike is worth more in parts than I have it listed for. I just cant bring myself to do it. Hopefully the bike will go to someone who will restore it to its former glory. This is the 125 that started it all for the japanese MX market segment.
Please fell free to contact me with any questions you have. I would be happy to answer them. Thanks for looking
- Its missing the kick starter.
- Surface rust on the fork tubes (easier to just replace these they pop up on ebay for under 40-100 dollars)
- Surface rust frame (will cleanup with sand blasting). Frame is solid, no crished tubes or welds an has the kick stand!
- Handlebars have rust/pitting and pitting on shock shafts (See pics) --- I was able to find a stock set of bars for the bike in better condition- they are tweaked and chrome is pealing in a few spots but way nicer.
- Motor is not currently running.
- kill switch is broken
- Tires are dry rotted but they are the original tires
- Still has the original seat in good condition
- One fin on the head is broken
- Clutch cover has a piece broken off where the clutch actuator seal goes. (see pic) --- I was able to acquire a nice replacement cover which will come with the bike.
- The tank has some rust inside but appears to be surface rust. one small dent on top by seat (see pic)
- Rims are very nice. Most likely because the original tires are still in the bike. Some of the spokes are rusty though.
- Missing the left side cover.
- Throttle tube is siezed to the handle bars. Should break loose with the WD-40 (Re-MX.com sells new ones)
- Left side cover is missing
- Air filter retainer is missing (reproductions available on ebay)
- Exhaust pipe is dented up pretty good on the bottom. Silencer looks near perfect
SHIPPING: costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I dont mind holding the bike for a while once it is paid for. I realize it takes time to make shipping arrangements and I want to make this a stress free experience for the buyer. I do have a pretty good list of shippers I would be happy to pass on to you. I have one in particular that does North/South I-95 runs at a very reasonable price and occasionally he goes to TX, LA.
