1971 Honda CL350 Scrambler. VIN CL350-3045355

This bike has a clean/clear Michigan title. Only has 6,951 miles on it (it still had the original Bridgestone tires on it). It's super clean and runs great! I went completely though this bike and it is in very good shape. I put 500 miles on it in just a couple weeks. It's a fun bike. Easy for beginners, and perfect for the nostalgic.

Here's an overview of the work I have done:
Cleaned up the mechanical advance clutch cam assembly, lightly lubed and reinstalled after checking for correct function
Replaced the gas cap gasket (after making sure the vent was clean) with an OEM Honda unit
Installed a ATC fuse holder & a 15 amp fuse
Rebuilt the carbs with the OEM Honda seals kit (has original jets and needle)
New battery
Set the valve lash
Set the point gap and timing (I have since installed a PAMCO electronic ignition, but still have and will include the original points and condenser)
Freshly gapped OE plugs
New reproduction petcock valve
New pair of OEM Honda style fuel filters
All cables are new, including the throttle cable (except front brake and tachometer cables. The originals were lubed and reinstalled)
New front and rear brake shoes (EBC 315g & 314)
New grips/throttle sleeve
New tires/tubes/liners (Shinko 244's; 2.75-19F, & 3.50-18R)
Kohler rectifier/regulator (I ordered a factory style connector from Vintage Connections), so no wiring was cut
New intake couplers
New turn signal flasher
Synchronized the carburetors
New front wheel bearing: All Balls 25-1319
New clutch pushrod seal
All lights/signals function correctly
Removed, cleaned, lubed and adjusted clutch cam assembly

Small issues:
The tank is not original and has some dents.
The head stock and headlight bucket appears to have originally gold colored (judging from the inside of the headlight bucket)
I lost the brass rod that affixes the air cleaner covers
The air cleaner covers do not match the bike's color
The neutral indicator doesn't work
Even though the starter occasionally spins w/o engaging the engine, it still easily starts
One mirror is reproduction, and one is original. They are slightly different sizes
The clutch slips occasionally going into 4th. Once fully in gear it does not slip again, regardless how hard the throttle is applied. I suspect it's a lubrication issue. I used JASO spec oil, but a different oil may solve this

Schoolboy Heroes

Fri, 04 Mar 2011

A wet and grey day in Calais in 1992 wouldn’t be the obvious situation for a life changing experience, but for a 11 year old lad on a boring booze cruise from Dover this is exactly what happened. Pockets bulging with funny money I headed to the Tabac for the obligatory bangers, dirty playing cards and some sweets.  Then it happened, I stood in front of the magazine rack and reached up, as if drawn by an external force.  At the time I wasn’t tall enough for Playboy or L’ Escort so settled for a copy of Moto Verte, the French motocross mag.  Life would never be the same again. Inside there was a double page spread, with a fresh faced Jeremy McGrath resting a leg over his #15 Honda CR125.  Sporting a pair of fluro MX trousers with a, now retro, bright white surname emblazoned jersey, and casting an eye over a seriously vast motocross park.  I stared at this Sinisalo advert all the way home, partly because all the articles were in foreign, but also because I was transfixed.  What and how do I become a motocross champion?

Honda Canada to Launch CBR250R Racing Series

Fri, 30 Sep 2011

Honda Canada will introduce a new national racing series featuring the CBR250R for 2012. The news is no surprise as Honda has been running a CBR125R Challenge racing series as a support class for the Canadian Superbike Championship since 2008. With the CBR250R on the market for nearly a year (and reportedly doing quite well at that), a racing series featuring the quarter-liter sportbike was almost inevitable.

Honda CG150 TITAN MIX

Wed, 11 Mar 2009

While there are certain countries around the globe that are known for their significant contribution to technological innovation within the motorcycle industry, Brazil has never been one of them. Until now, it seems. Brazilian Honda subsidiary Moto Honda da Amazonia Ltda., recently began sales of the CG150 TITAN MIX, a 150cc bike with the world’s first production flexible-fuel technology.
