Honda CBR description

Bike is being relisted. Please check payment and pick-up requirement.

NO RESERVE !!!!!  Museum Clean ,1987 Honda CBR 600 Hurricane.Only produced 2 yrs with the Hurricane script on the tank.Only produced one year in these colors . I am the original owner of this bike . Always stored in inside, covered and meticulously maintained. Never raced or dropped and  dusted, debugged ,and waxed after every ride. Has never been in the rain. The bike is completely stock with the exception of a few things that I will elaborate on. The F1 all-aluminum silencer is probably one of the first things that will be noticed. I do not have the original silencer anymore. Tires have been changed only once and Pirelli Sport Demons were installed which now have approx 600 miles on them.

The stock air filter has been replaced with a K & N product. Passenger footrests were removed shortly after the purchase of the bike to streamline the look in the rear. The original brackets that supported the foot rests were taken to a body shop and a friend of mine at the time did the work himself by cutting them off and smoothed all the roughness away and repainted both with a high gloss black finish. The end result is a look that turned out factory perfect. The front fairing has a small crack directly to the lower right of the headlight as you face the front of the bike. (See photo of headlight area) This crack is a factory defect and it was on the bike when it sat on the showroom floor. The seat is in perfect condition without a single flaw.

The tank has not a scratch or dent in it. All of the bodywork pieces are also in the same condition. All bodywork and paint is ORIGINAL.. Every gauge on the dash works perfectly including speedometer and tachometer. All lights work and switches too. There has never been any electrical issues. Brakes and calipers are in perfect working order . Last year I installed new float bowl gaskets; OEM float valves and an OEM petcock. Absolutely no oil or radiator leaks. Shocks and forks are original equipment and never an issue with either.Also has a new battery in 2013.

Also note; the plastic housing on the rear view mirrors has discolored slightly simply due to age and the inevitable breakdown in plastic properties through the years, which is, sadly, unavoidable.Not a showstopper but it still needs to be mentioned.The rear 42-tooth sprocket was replaced with a 44-tooth sprocket and I still have the original. Chain is original too.Original owners manual and Honda Service manual is also included with the bike and yes, all pieces in the tool kit are also intact. Swing arm stand included with the sale of the bike.Bike is available for pick up at my location only. Meaning, I will not transport it to any shipping agency. No warranty is ever implied or offered in the sale of this motorcycle.Questions?  E-mail or Feel free to call.. Phone number, 815-953-6520

Preferred payment is a certified bank cashier’s check. I will not release the bike until all funds have cleared my bank ;

Photo of the odometer shows 8150...Actual miles are 8160.. Put on a few miles since the picture was taken.

Bahrain track days

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

A few months ago, expat (and ex racer) John Beddall made contact to ask if I fancied doing some track day instruction out in Bahrain.  After thinking about it for two seconds, flights were booked and a plan was put in place to look after around forty riders for a day at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).  Young Taylor Mac was also recruited to look after any tasty riders that I couldn’t deal with   The Brits out there love their bikes, however, quite a few locals also turned up plus a few others from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar.  Most were on high end Superbikes, like S1000s, Panigales and RSV4s but there was also a healthy number R6s and new 675Rs.   Although this fabulous Hermann Tilke designed circuit is around ten years old incredibly it has never hosted a bike race.  The highlight of the year there is F1 but being owned by the Bahrainian Royal family, there is no desperate need for the circuit to operate as a profitable business.  The track reminded me of Qatar but much more interesting as some great undulations have been built into its desert location. We shared the track with Supercars on the day (20mins on/20mins off) and as you might imagine it was betty swollocks for seven hours in the 30 plus temperatures.  As usual there was a few offs with poor old RS1000 Aprilia mounted Andy breaking his femur early in the day.  Two other buddies appeared to swap bikes mid air in another incident but fortunately escaped unhurt.In the evening everyone stayed for an al fresco dinner in the paddock with the craic going on for hours as the Fosters kept flowing.   All in all it was a brilliant trip and it has left me thinking there could be cost effective ways of getting Brits out there for track days next winter.  I'll keep you posted.Cape Town next to make my racing comeback at the Killarney 8 hour on a CBR150 Honda.  Hopefully I can manage the beast, I'll post a full report next week.

SORRY TO keep carpin’ on about porcelain bathroom products but this beauty, I think, is of great motorcycling significance. Feast on its elegant lines and classical, elegant beauty. Combining an integral hand basin (with a nifty electrically operated water pump in the cistern lid) this john not only provides ingenious space saving design techniques but also serves as a timely reminder to wash your hands once you’ve pointed Percy at the porcelain.
