The Japanese oddity to naming teams

Whenever the calendar shifts to a major Japanese race, such as the Suzuka 8hr, one of the more amusing things to do is glance down the team sheet This years highlight for me has to be team Moto Bum, with other stand outs including aprilia D.D.BOYS, Team Etching Factory Yamaha and MITO MOTO & e'freaks Honda. Looking back through the ages some of the great Japanese team names have been Burning Blood Racing Team, Dog Fight Racing and Team Moto Space amongst others. Miguel Duhamel to Ride for Lightning-Barracuda at Le Mans FIM e-Power/TTXGP Race

Miguel Duhamel is returning to action to race in the FIM e-Power International Championship for Lightning Motorcycles. The five-time Daytona 200 winner will ride the Lightning Barracuda electric motorcycle for the joint FIM and TTXGP race at Le Mans , and Motorcycle.com had a role in setting up the connection. The topic of a rider for Le Mans came up during the preparations for Associate Editor Troy Siahaan‘s exclusive test of the Lightning race bike last month.

Honda MotoGP Production Racer Undergoes Testing at Motegi

Development of Honda‘s new production racer is well underway, as the new (relatively) low-cost MotoGP racebike underwent testing at Japan’s Twin Ring Motegi circuit May 23-24. Conceived as a lower-cost option for race teams, the production racer project is running slightly behind schedule but Honda still expects it will available in time for the 2014 MotoGP season. Early reports estimate the price for the production racer to be around US$1.26 million, a substantial price, but still considerably less expensive than rumored $3.9 million it currently costs to lease a Honda RC213V for one season.
