2012 Honda CBR600RRA, 600RR! - You want a bike with a racing pedigree for occasional track days, but it’s got to be comfortable and practical for everyday street riding, too. That’s a hard bill to fill, but there’s one bike that has gained a hard-earned reputation for both race-track prowess and real-world usability: the remarkable Honda CBR600RRA. On the track, the CBR600RRA is quite capable of lap records and race wins. But unlike other supersport 600s, its seating position and overall ergonomics don’t force you into a racing crouch when you’re just commuting downtown or cruising along the highway. But it’s that engine and gearbox that transcend the normal into new realms of brilliance. I’ve been doing my best not to bore people too much about DCT but it’s hard.

Back in the day, the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba
Fri, 24 Jun 2011This ‘you tube’ gem sent to me recently brought back some funny memories from the scary but incredibly exciting days of 500cc two stroke racing. This particular race was the final round of the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba Circuit where I enjoyed a head to head battle with national hero Tadahiko Taira. Yamaha’s favourite son at the time, ‘tie wrap’ as we liked to call him, was taller and better looking than most Japanese riders (maybe a war baby?) and went on to win nearly everything in Japan during his career.
