Honda CB description
Up for bids and sold to the highest bidder is this 1978 Honda CB550K Four. 95% original and untouched. Presents well for driver quality. This machine runs and rides but is a light project. Only 14k original miles. No leaks, smoke or unusual sounds. The bike had sat for 6-8 years. I installed a new battery and rebuilt carbs. I've ridden 27 miles. Either the carbs need adjusting or bigger jets to accommodate the air cleaner pods. Holds idle but has flat spots through the rpm range. I'd go back to the stock airbox. I have the original airbox(no boots or top). I installed a new clutch cable and the bike shifts through the gears smoothly. The front brake was rebuilt and brakes work as intended. I have installed 2 new tires(27 miles) and tubes. Chrome is nice on wheels. Chrome overall looks presentable. Some light rust pitting and surface rust. The exhaust looks nice. No rash or egregious scratches. Some light rust down low and pitting on back side. The seat looks good but has 2 seam splits on top. The paint is original with scratches and a few small dents. Some clear coat peel on top. The side covers look good with no damage. The emblems have some oxidation as seen. All of the lights and gauges work. The tachometer needle sticks at around 6k rpm. The turn signals works as does brake light. The horn and all switches work. Has a clear Ohio title. Email with questions. Buyer to pay $500 non refundable deposit with 3 days of auctions end and balance due within 7 days. NO EXCEPTIONS! I can assist with loading at you or your shippers convenience from my commercial location 45410. I can store the motorcycle for up to 30-45 days with payment in full received within allotted time. Video: Honda Crossrunner v mountain pass
Fri, 01 Apr 2011This road (the one in the video) was a previously unseen, super-steep mountain pass which needed first gear for the hairpins and second between them with an occasional grab at third on the quicker sections. It was the sort of road that pumps up your forearms and makes you crane your neck to see what's coming next (mainly cyclists). The surface was rubbish.
Awesome Anaheim Supercross
Fri, 11 Jan 2013The highlight of this winter has to be my visit to last week’s Anaheim Californian Supercross. I’ve followed this spectacular series on Motors TV but the atmosphere while watching the action live is something else. Forty five Yankee dollars gets you a good seat high in the stadium, with practice starting at 12.30pm and the main event kicking off at 7.30pm. If you are making a day of it however, I’d recommend buying a pit pass then you can get in full anorak mode to hassle the teams and riders for autographs and photos. We conveniently made some new friends allowing us to do some pre event ‘tail gating’, a great concept which is basically barbecuing and downing beer around your vehicle in the surrounding car parks. The evening race schedule is four hours of nonstop action starting with the capacity crowd standing for the American national anthem sung by a stunning blonde with a huge voice.
2023 Honda CL500 First Look
Tue, 08 Nov 2022Street scrambler joins Honda's 500 family Honda is adding a new model to its 500 platform, introducing a retro-inspired CL500 street scrambler. The new CL brings back a nameplate Honda used in the ’60s and ’70s for lightweight off-road capable motorcycles. The modern interpretation draws on that heritage with the upswept muffler with stainless steel heat shield, round tank with tank pads, and gaitered forks.
