Honda CB description

Nice CB400F rider.  This bike had sat for many years and I purchased it as a winter project. I'm a retired multi-line motorcycle mechanic.

The service I completed includes: new tires, chain, sprockets, battery, points, plugs, valve adjustment, cam chain adjustment, new front brake hose, rebuilt master cylinder, rebuilt caliper with new piston and pads, Accel coils and spark plug wires, oil and filter. The fork seals were replaced and the tubes have no rust or pitting.  The rear shocks were replaced with OEM. The carbs were ultrasonically cleaned and new jets installed to compensate for the pod filters.

The tank is like brand new with no scratches, dings, scuffs or dents.  It is Caswell coated.  The seat is NOS and perfect. The muffler is a reproduction of the original and new.

All of the wiring connections were pulled apart, inspected and cleaned.  I replaced the connector and pins from the alternator with OEM as they were corroded which is a common issue with these bikes.  The charging system works perfectly.

Includes the OEM airbox and a new air filter.

Everything works as it should.

The wheels and straight and the chrome on them is good.  The fender chrome is cloudy as typical for old Japanese bikes.  It also has a little rash on the headlight rim and the tach as shown in the photos.  It's not bad rash and the gauge works perfectly.

I rode this bike about 100 miles since servicing it and now it's time for my next project.  It's fun to ride and handles great.

Intermot 2012: Honda CB1100 Enters European Market

Wed, 03 Oct 2012

As we expected, Honda announced it will bring its retro-styled CB1100 to Europe at the 2012 Intermot show in Cologne, Germany. Previously only available in Japan and Australia, the CB1100 will be available in Europe for 2013, though there is still no sign it will ever be offered in North America. Though it sounds close in name to Honda‘s CB1000R, the two naked standards reflect two differing philosophies.

New MotoGP Rules for ECU and Factory Status for 2014

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

The Grand Prix Commission released new rules for the 2014 MotoGP season regarding the standard electronic control unit and what constitutes “factory status” for manufacturers. Starting in 2014, the official MotoGP ECU including internal datalogger from Magneti Marelli will become mandatory. Factory teams will be allowed to program their own ECU software while privateers will be required to run the standard software.
