Motorcycles at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show

Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.

The Japanese oddity to naming teams

Whenever the calendar shifts to a major Japanese race, such as the Suzuka 8hr, one of the more amusing things to do is glance down the team sheet This years highlight for me has to be team Moto Bum, with other stand outs including aprilia D.D.BOYS, Team Etching Factory Yamaha and MITO MOTO & e'freaks Honda. Looking back through the ages some of the great Japanese team names have been Burning Blood Racing Team, Dog Fight Racing and Team Moto Space amongst others. A Dizzying Lap Of Imola + Video

Nilox, the action camera sponsor for World Superbike, makes it a point to film an on-board lap of each track on the calendar before each race weekend. A few weeks ago we brought you footage of Giuliano Rovelli lapping a Honda CBR1000RR SP around Assen. This week Rovelli is back, this time aboard a Kawasaki ZX-10R, giving us a rapid tour of Imola, the track made famous by the tragic passing of Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna 20 years ago, and also by the legendary battle between Troy Bayliss and Colin Edwards in 2002 which decided the championship.
