Honda CB description
Where do I begin...
This is a 1973 Honda that was initially forgotten in a garage and neglected for 30 years. In 2011 I endeavored with Adam from Phoenix Cycles in Massachusetts, to to bring this machine back to its OEM condition. I spared no expense and sourced as many OEM parts as possible. I have every OEM or NOS Honda part bag used and they will be included in the sale. I did leave as many original parts in place, unrestored to preserve the integrity and patina of the bike. The bike has been ridden sparingly as it is one a few in my collection. I am selling it because it doesn't get the attention it deserves and I'm hoping someone can enjoy it the way it should. It is in excellent condition and has always been stored in a heated controlled environment. - The engine was completely torn down, cylinders bored .25, upgraded Cycle-X cam chain tensioner, valves redone, carburetors polished, rebuilt and synced...everything was rebuilt and it runs amazing. Parts were sourced from Honda or Cycle X-Change. - Cycle X piston set and a Web Cam CX1 were used in the build. Original cam and pistons will be included in the sale. - Pirelli Sport demons ride on new OEM rims with OEM spokes professionally strung and balanced by Gary Brodeur from Custom Wheels in Attleboro, MA. - I wanted to use the original gas tank so I sent it to Moyer's Tanks Inc in Greensburg, PA and had it restored. (gas-tank.com) - Tank received OEM side badges sourced from US dealers with the correct gold edges for 1973 and lower OEM trim pieces sourced from Great Britain. Tank stripes were sourced from CB Decals. New OEM petcock and OEM gas cap. - OEM side cover badges were sourced from USA dealers, originals were beyond restoration. - The original OEM orange side jewels, rear fender, rear shocks, grab bar, head light trim ring, fork ears, brake lens were reused in efforts again to preserve some of the originality. They were cleaned and polished but still retain 43 years of detail. - All body paint work was completed in Norwood, MA, by legendary Harley painter John Hartnett. Painted Bacchus Green. - Frame, swing arm, triple tree, and all other black parts were professionally blasted and painted a beautiful black identical to factory specs. - New modern style bearings were used through out the build for reliability and added safety. - Speedometer and Tachometer were sent to Bob's Speedometer in Howell, MI for complete restoration. They look very nice. (bobsspeedometer.com) - Clutch, ignition, brake system, charging system, front forks all professionally rebuilt and restored. - Braided front brake line and Motion Pro cables replaced all old OEM ones. - All aluminum parts polished. - OEM seat and front fender were replaced with NOS. Originals will be included in the sale. - It did not come with OEM pipes and I liked the sound and simple form of the MAC 4 into 1. It has been jetted correctly for the use of the stock air box and the MAC. - I replaced the stock handle bars with a European sport set that was a common period correct replacement. They look sleeker and add to the handling of the bike. - New NOS correct mirrors and grips. Original mirrors will be included in the sale. - Original gator guards in excellent condition included in sale. - Front directional stems were replaced with slightly shorter NOS replacements. OEM stems will be included in the sale. - Front master cylinder is from a K2. Original was beyond restoration. - New sealed battery and 530 chain 2015. - It is a 6 year old restoration and there are some very minor blemishes all of which have been detailed in the pictures. *Every part of this bike was touched professionally. If a part was removed it was either restored or replaced with an NOS or OEM Honda part. If you are interested in pictures of the build process I would be happy to email a few. All pictures in this listing were taken 8/16/2016. I will not ship this bike but will work with the buyer to help with arraigned domestic or international shipping. I will answer every quest asked honestly and I am available by phone or email. -Michael 541-231-4557 |
