Honda CB description

This CB 175 is in excellent condition.  Just look at the pictures.  Everything on this motorcycle is original, except the new tires, the Emgo exhaust cans, and the handlebar.  Even the handlebar is an OEM Honda bar for a CB 400F.  The original (taller) bar comes with the bike.  The engine has a new top end with OEM Honda 1 mm over pistons, rings, lapped valves and new guides.  Currently, the original side stand is removed, easily remounted.  I just installed a new battery.  The bike is a true survivor.  The original side covers have no broken tabs.  It even has its original owners manual.  It just turned over 5,600 miles.  I have all my service records logged in the Haynes and factory manuals included with the sale.  All electrics work perfectly.  I use the dependable starter every time, since the kick starter does not quite clear the right aftermarket can.  You get two keys.

The bike has three minor cosmetic issues.  Very slight mismatched paint on one headlight ear (previous owners repair), light scratches on the right side cover, and light scratches on the right can from the previous owner's discovery that the kick starter wouldn't clear.

Of course, this is a 44 year old motorcycle, and as such, the sale is final.  It is sold as, where is. No warranty.  I am also listing it locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early.  Happy bidding!

Rumor Check: Honda's Mini-Africa Twin Will Be The XL750 Transalp

Tue, 23 Aug 2022

Trademark filings confirm the return of a familiar name. Back in May 2021, MO’s resident sleuth Dennis Chung took a dive into the rumor mill surrounding a possible mini-Africa Twin coming from Honda. Trademark filings for the name Transalp were filed in several markets around the world, including the U.S.

2024 Honda Transalp Review – First Ride

A European staple comes to America Photos by Align Media/Honda Adventure bikes weren’t really a thing in 1989, at least not in the United States. Even BMW’s venerable GS was nothing more than a misunderstood, oversized dual-purpose machine with ties to the Paris-Dakar rally, which itself was only a little more than a decade old at the time. At the back of the dealership where I worked in 1991, parked next to the tire rack, languished a 1989 Honda XL600V Transalp.

Buying countless tatty bikes. And that Marquez fella

A South African friend of mine called Trevor Binder told me last weekend I’m quite obviously in the advanced stages of a terrible disease. He recognises the affliction because he admits to suffering from the same condition for many years and so far hasn’t found a cure.  He says he can’t stop collecting bikes and while I didn’t think I had a problem, last weekend he pointed out I should be careful as I’m starting to acquire bikes at an alarming rate. I wasn’t really worried about spending a modest amount of cash an old KTM 125 race bike, a 350 LC and a Fizzy over the past six months but Trevor says I’m on a slippery slope.  He says it always starts with bikes that have some sentimental value but then swiftly moves on to buying any old tat.  Trevor is a wealthy man with dozens of nice bikes in his collection but more recently has been on Gumtree bidding for £150 Solex front wheel drive step - thrus, and doesn’t know why.  Closer to home, James Whitham has recently confirmed he may also have these symptoms and is actively seeking therapy.  I’ll be monitoring the situation from now on but in the meantime if anyone hears of a reasonably priced Raleigh Wisp for sale please let me know.
