Honda CB description

This nicely original Blue-Green Sandcast is in great running condition and ready to ride with 7,346 miles The motorcycle has original later production model of the following "4-dimple" Tank - 17 litre, fuel tap long neck, oil webbed fabric line, 3 hole air-box which has been repainted, seat pan, black kill switch with knob, and finless oil filter housing. The engine serial number is CB750E-1007414, which makes it an original Sandcast.

The bike does have some scratches and paint chipping on the headlight bucket. Due to a new seat on the seat pan, there are marks on the gas tank.  There is also a scratch on top of the back taillight. The bike does include the original tool kit. All electric works. There is a small dent on the fourth exhaust pipe on the right side. The original side cover is cracked and has been repaired in parts. There will be replacement needed for the front gear covers and the accordion fork dust covers. All of the chrome is in good condition with no sign of rust. It has been well maintained.

The CB750 is included in the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Classic Bikes. It was named in the Discovery Channel's "Greatest Motorbikes Ever”. The Sandcast refers to the first 7,414 CB750 Honda motorcycles produced from early 1969 until September, 1969. These bikes featured several identifiable features most importantly the sandcast engine.  The process used a sand mold, the molten aluminum was cast into a mold using a special sand formulated for the casting process. “Sandcast" refers to the process by which each of the aluminum crankcase halves were cast.

The CB750 is designed as a high performance touring motorcycle. It mounts a 4-cylinder engine on a rigidly engineered frame body which is
precisionly aligned for balance. There are several distinctive characteristics of this series of engines: The engine cases have a distinctive rough finish that resembles the roughness of 400-600 grit sandpaper. Other important "Sandcast" detailwhich this bike includes are; double "cut" front fender, "wrinkle" gas tank, smooth airbox, cupped brake master cylinder, recessed key and ignition switch, and original sandcast engine with 9 hole clutch cover.

This is truly a production bike revolutionary for its timeThe overhead camshaft, inline four-cylinder engine, and original "sandcast" models of the CB750 were rare then, is even more unique and rare today. This bike runs and rides like it looks, superb!

Shunji Yokokawa

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

Honda Project Leader Shunji Yokokawa's first Honda bike was a CB900, which he got when he was a teenager after seeing Freddie Spencer wheeling his way down the Laguna's Corkscrew.Yokokawa has been in the States himself recently, having travelled to the Bonneville Salt Flats to break a world land speed record for a stock 600cc motorcycle.According to the Southern California Timing Association website (you'd have thought the video might have mentioned something about the record?), Shunji was successful in his attempt during August's 'Speed Week', setting an official speed of 170.828mph onboard a CBR600RR.
