The Honda Valkyrie speaks that most eloquent of cruiser
languages - torque.
Unlike high-revving sportbikes, Valkyrie's performance
isn't measured in horsepower, but in pounds-feet. The kind that come with cubic
centimetres -- 1520 of them in all -- distributed evenly amongst Valkyrie's six
smooth-running cylinders.
Unlike a lot of other cruisers, the Valkyrie's
performance doesn't fall flat when the road gets twisty. Thanks to a generous
heaping of ground clearance, stout spine frame and robust 45mm inverted fork,
the Valkyrie is as adept in a corner as it is in a straight line.
Not only is the Valkyrie's six-cylinder engine unique in
sound and feel. The Valkyrie is also plenty comfortable with plush suspension,
a roomy seat and a host of accessories to transform the performance cruiser
into a long-haul tourer.
The Valkyrie engine is a 1,520 cubic centimetres (93 cu
in) liquid cooled, horizontally-opposed flat-six engine transplanted from Honda's
Goldwing model. This was unusual since most "cruiser" style
motorcycles were based on a V-twin engine design similar to the engine of a
Harley-Davidson. In its transplant from the Goldwing, the most notable engine
changes were the camshaft and the change to six individual 28 mm carburetors,
one for each cylinder, changes which increased power and torque.
Honda Valkyrie screams individuality. Engine ·

Pata Honda To Test ‘Speed Gene’ At Jerez
Tue, 01 Apr 2014This just in from the Pata Honda World Superbike team: The Pata Honda team has announced the introduction of a nepotistic youth policy designed to enhance development and ensure continuity of its world championship racing program. On tomorrow’s third and final day of the World Superbike championship test currently taking place at Jerez in Spain, regular riders Leon Haslam and Jonathan Rea will hand over their Honda CBR1000RR SP racing machines to their respective young sons. Despite being less than a year old, Max Haslam and Jake Rea are deemed to have inherited sufficient quantities of the so-called ‘speed gene’ to warrant a full test on the sophisticated production race bikes.

Honda Reminds Us It's Working On A New Hornet
Mon, 06 Jun 2022Expect the production model at EICMA in November One of the biggest surprises at the 2021 EICMA show last November was the news Honda is working on a new Hornet model. At its booth in Milan, Honda presented a sculpture with an elaborate light show projecting a hint at what to expect from the new Hornet. In the six months following EICMA, however, there has been very little, er, “buzz”, coming from Honda.
