Honda VTX description

2007 Honda Vtx 1300R, Selling my motorcycle because I don't have the time to take road trips like I originally thought I would. I bought the bike new from Pro Caliber of Bend in 2008 and have only put 3600 miles on it (one trip to northern CA and one trip to Reno plus local riding). I just had the 4,000 mile maintenance service done--everything is A-OK. Receipt/invoice provided. Earlier this summer I purchased brand new locking leather saddlebags (Viking, $198 w/shipping) and a new quick-release windscreen kit (Memphis shades, $339) to replace my old windscreen that had accumulated lots of little dings over the past few years. Neither are installed as I haven't had the time. The windscreen mounting hardware is already on the bike, so the only thing you have to do is assemble the new windscreen itself and attach it to the mounting bar. These items are brand new in the boxes/packaging. Also included in sale are TWO Kuryakyn GranTour luggage bags with straps and cable locks. Why do I have two? Back in '09 I lost some of the straps to the first bag and had a trip coming up, so because I had more money than sense, I bought another GranTour bag. After my road trip, I found the straps to the first bag and now have two complete GranTour bags (complete with raincovers and under-seat mounting straps/pads). Also have heated handgrips and passenger back rest dealer-installed on the bike. Schumacher battery tender also included. Bike has tags good into 2014. $5900 or best offer. Test ride okay with cash deposit and proof of valid drivers license w/ motorcycle endorsement. Contact me via this ad or call me at 541-390-4972 $5,900.00 5412417930

A postcard from Moto GP Jerez

Fri, 04 May 2012

If the weather over the Jerez Moto GP weekend was dull then the atmosphere in the press room was the complete opposite.  After the carnage and chaos during the Moto 3 race, the amazing Romano Fenati (in only his second GP) had the Italian journalists celebrating as he crossed the line to win. I smiled as they simultaneously began singing ‘Y Viva Espana’ as if to signify the end of Spanish dominance in the junior GP class.

Recall for 2008-2010 Honda ST1300

Mon, 18 Jul 2011

Honda is recalling certain 2009-2010 ST1300 sport touring motorcycles due to a risk of a brake fluid leakage. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the pre-formed hose supplying fluid from the rear brake reservoir to the rear brake master cylinder is routed in a way that puts it at risk of damage. When the Honda ST1300 is heavily loaded and ridden over rough surfaces, the rear suspension may bottom out, causing the hose to contact the swingarm.

New MotoGP Rules for ECU and Factory Status for 2014

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

The Grand Prix Commission released new rules for the 2014 MotoGP season regarding the standard electronic control unit and what constitutes “factory status” for manufacturers. Starting in 2014, the official MotoGP ECU including internal datalogger from Magneti Marelli will become mandatory. Factory teams will be allowed to program their own ECU software while privateers will be required to run the standard software.
