Honda ST1100A tech info
Honda ST1100A description
I have owned this motorcycle for 16 years. It is in exceptional condition. There are some very minor scratches on the tank from a tank bag (pictured as best I could), but the bike otherwise has no cosmetic flaws. No mechanical issues. Always garage kept. It has been maintained with religious fervor, with most service records available from one of the most respected Honda dealerships in the Midwest. I did the oil changes myself, always with Honda factory oil and Honda filters. Less than 500 miles ago, I had a complete maintenance done, with all new fluids, filters, valve inspection/adjustment plus a new battery and new tires. This was in preparation for a 5,000 mile tour that was never done--the bike is completely plug-and-play, ready to circumnavigate the United States and beyond. The bike has anti-lock brakes, traction control and adjustable suspension. It has a Throttlemeister throttle lock and heated grips, although the throttle side heated grip no longer heats. It comes with both factory and Corbin seat. Some of the stitching on the Corbin is coming loose, but it should be good for a season or two before recovering is needed. It also comes with a 50-liter (aka huge) top case by Givi, with a rack on the top case. The bike has sufficient cargo space, and power, for two-up touring. The V4 motor is bullet proof and properly considered one of the finest power plants ever produced by Honda. The ST1100 is a top-notch sport touring bike that has received accolades from none other than Sonny Barger, a founding member of the Hells Angels. In his 2000 autobiography, Barger singled out the ST1100 and bemoaned the fact that he couldn't ride one because Angels must ride Harleys: "If I could, I would seriously consider riding a Honda ST1100 or a BMW. We really missed the boat by not switching over to the Japanese models when they began building bigger bikes. I'll usually say "(Expletive) Harley-Davidson. You can buy an ST1100 and the (expletive) will do 110 miles per hour right from the factory all day long." -- Hell's Angel, The Life and Times of Sonny Barger and the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club Would prefer local pickup but am willing to work with buyers on shipping. |

Honda MotoGP Production Racer Undergoes Testing at Motegi
Mon, 27 May 2013Development of Honda‘s new production racer is well underway, as the new (relatively) low-cost MotoGP racebike underwent testing at Japan’s Twin Ring Motegi circuit May 23-24. Conceived as a lower-cost option for race teams, the production racer project is running slightly behind schedule but Honda still expects it will available in time for the 2014 MotoGP season. Early reports estimate the price for the production racer to be around US$1.26 million, a substantial price, but still considerably less expensive than rumored $3.9 million it currently costs to lease a Honda RC213V for one season.

WSBK 2012: Assen Results
Mon, 23 Apr 2012The Netherlands hosted a dramatic weekend of World Superbike racing that featured a red-flagged wet race, several riders crashing while leading, a first-time race winner, a photo finish between two teammates and the reigning World Champion finishing out of the points because of a poor choice of tires. The 2011 WSBK Champion Carlos Checa arrived at Assen with the lead in the championship and a three-race winning streak, but opting to run wet tires in Race Two cost him the lead and may have contributed to a crash that severely injured Liberty Racing‘s Brett McCormick.
