1981 Honda CX500 with CBR600rr Forks Cafe Racer Vintage Antique Bobber (1981)
This 1981 CX500 has a custom paint job with a few flows here and there. Custom seat and tail section. The bike has cbr600rr forks/front end. Front tire is new(120/90-17, the last picture shows the bike with the original tire before I swapped it), I have the new rear tire but I have not installed it yet. I also have a set of rear break shoes that will go with the bike, the rear brakes on the bike now squeak a tiny bit, the front brakes are full of life. The small holes on either side of the tail section are for turn signal mounting, if desired. In the photo's it shows the cbr grips and extensions on the lefts but not the right, but I just added the grips and grip extension on the right as well. This bike is in its "work cloths", I was going to strip the entire bike down and powder coat the frame but I do not have the time right now. Since the photo's, I have added a new set of gold colored air shocks, the shocks in the photo's will go with the bike. I have part of the build of this bike on the CX forum: http://cx500forum.com/forum/cx-customization-modifications/21815-cx500-fork-swap-cbr600rr.html The bike runs great, and shifts through all of the gears without any issue. It handles wonderfully with the cbr front end. I have a rejet kit 90/120 for the carbs which I have not installed yet. I've owned this bike for about 5 years now, and unfortunately other obligations have not allowed me to spend as much time on this bike as I would like to ride. In my time owning it, I have replaced the brake fluid once (two years ago), and flushed the radiator fluid and oil change each year except for this year. I generally only put on 1000-2000 miles in a year on the bike. I also for good measure put new brake pads on the bike after the first year that I owned it. This nice bike is ready to ride.

Cleaning out the garage - I'm downsizing to a condominium and the bikes have to go. I am the 2nd owner of this vintage CX500 that I bought in 1980. It sat in the garage unused for a number of years as I moved on to a Harley Davidson and just lost interest in it. I recently went through it and changed all the fluids and tinkered with it to get it ready for sale. Everything works - all the electrics, drive-train, ... although it does run poorly - unresponsive, surges a bit, but does idle just fine after it's warmed up. No doubt this is because the carbs are likely gunked from sitting too long so they need a thorough cleaning. This bike is all stock (except for the little clip-on windshield you see in the pictures). The tank is clean inside with no dents but there is a blemish to the graphic on the right side where I spilled some brake fluid while filling the master cylinder and a nick where the seat meets the tank (small). Seat is perfect - no rips or defects. The right fork seal weeps a little bit of oil (not bad enough to replace) but I did replace the left one as it was leaking too much. The tires look good but they're ancient and should be changed. It does have the markings on the crankcase showing the that stator has been serviced (original owner took care of that). It has all the normal wear and tear you would expect from a 35 year old bike. It's a good starting point if you're a VJM enthusiast and want to do a concours restoration.

A few weeks ago we brought you footage of Giuliano Rovelli lapping a Honda CBR1000RR SP around Assen. This week Rovelli is back, this time aboard a Kawasaki ZX-10R, giving us a rapid tour of Imola, the track made famous by the tragic passing of Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna 20 years ago, and also by the legendary battle between Troy Bayliss and Colin Edwards in 2002 which decided the championship.

Honda Re-Signs Marc Marquez Through 2016 MotoGP Season

Marc Marquez has signed a contract extension with Honda Racing Corporation that will see the reigning MotoGP champion stay with the manufacturer through the end of the 2016 season. “We are very satisfied to have reached an agreement to keep Marc in the team for a further two seasons,” says Shuhei Nakamoto, executive vice president of HRC. “Of course, as Honda, we wanted to keep Marc in our family, and he also wanted to stay with us so … it was natural to renew the contract even if it is very early in the season!

With the AMA Supercross season now over, the American Motorcyclist Association congratulates the three riders who claimed AMA No. 1 plates during the 2014 AMA Supercross season — Ryan Villopoto, 450SX champion; Justin Bogle, 250SX East champion; and Jason Anderson, 250SX West champion. Ryan Villopoto, from Seattle, Wash., locked up his fourth straight AMA Supercross premier class title in the series’ penultimate round, clinching at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Ryan Villopoto capped off his fourth-consecutive AMA Supercross championship with an impressive victory at the season finale at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider clinched the title at last week’s New Jersey round so he didn’t have to prove anything in Vegas. But he did, leading all 20 laps and winning by nearly 14 seconds.

Shawn Higbee Wins On The Brough Superior Taylor Made Racing Moto2

In only its second race appearance, the Brough Superior Taylor Made Racing Moto2 bike competed in the WERA F1 and B Superbike events on April 27th at the Autoclub Speedway in Fontana, California, run in conjunction with the first round of the GEICO Superbike Shootout, presented by Yamaha. During the F1 race, rider Shawn Higbee moved up to as high as 2nd place from a 5th row start on the Brough Superior TMRGP2 bike. The TMRGP2′s lightweight all carbon fiber chassis and 600cc Honda powerplant demonstrated impressive cornering speed on the tight infield sections but could not match the top speed of the heavily modified 1000cc F1 bikes on the long straights. On the last lap Higbee was shuffled back to 4th place at the finish line.

Arai Helmet has thrown its proverbial hat in the ring by signing up to sponsor the next two events of the new GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented by Yamaha. In addition, Arai has been named the official helmet of the series. The Arai Pacific Nationals will be hosted by the AFM next weekend, May 3-4, at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California.
