Honda Other description

Completely restored Honda NX250. I bought this bike last fall as a project to restore over the winter as it is the only NX250 I have ever seen. The owner had just gotten it out of the shop and needed to sell it for tuition money. It ran perfectly, but needed some TLC.

So - new tires, new O-ring chain and sprockets. New fork seals, replaced the original rubber gaiters with rock deflectors. Still have the gaiters. New windshield. New hand grips and hand shields. New mirrors. New rear fender and fender extension/tag holder. Exhaust header repainted. Instrument bulbs replaced. All cables, wires, rubber and plastic cleaned and refurbished to appear as new.

Needed a way to carry my rain suit, so fabricated a luggage rack and mini-panniers to hold the Frog Togs. (Frog Togs not included) It also has a Tom Tom One gps hard wired into the electrical system.
Finally, the bike was completely repainted in a candy blue metallic, as I was not real crazy about the original darker blue color, which was in poor condition anyway. A new Honda wing sticker on the side completes the cosmetics.

Find and read the various reviews online, this is a 1st class light touring motorcycle, way ahead of its time. It has more power than most street 250's, and 6th gear is a true overdrive, at 60 mph it is only turning 5700 rpm, so it is very quiet and vibration free. I replaced the original semi-enduro tires with something suited more to the street, and it handles very well, yet still does fine on gravel roads. I have had some very good rides so far this year on various back roads, the project was a success. Empty weight only 260 pounds.

The bike has 4 minor flaws; a small dent in the muffler cover - pictured. Several small holes in the rear of the seat cover. My neighbor is an upholsterer and will make me a new cover for $25, buyers decision, let me know. There is some light corrosion on the engine covers, causing the the bronze color engine paint to flake off in a few spots. Decided not to worry about it. The original plastic skid plate was not reattached as it has numerous cracks and splits, but it will go with the bike. Tool kit and owners manual included, along with the shop manual on CD.

With 12.22 miles of road winding its way to the 14,115-ft. summit, Pikes Peak International Hill Climb can be a daunting and dangerous challenge. Just ask our own Troy Siahaan who competed in last year’s “Race to the Clouds“ and broke his foot after crashing and falling off a 15-foot drop.

AMA Pro Racing Announces Basic Twins Flat Track Class for 2014 Season

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

AMA Pro Racing announced a new class for Flat Track racing designed to provide a new stepping stone for up-and-coming Pro-licensed racers, replacing the Pro Singles class in 2014. The new class, to be called Basic Twins, is more or less a revival of the Basic Expert Twins division that ran during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but dropped when the Pro Singles class was introduced for 2009. The new class will give young racers a chance to showcase their skills on Twins, easing their transition to eventually enter the Grand National Expert Twins class.
