Honda Other description

The Honda CB550 was a 544 cc (33.2 cu in) four-cylinder standard motorcycle made from 1974 to 1978 and was replaced in 1979 by the Honda CB650.  This sale is for a 1974 Honda CB550E.  Very difficult to find the E style listed anywhere.  All the parts are original as far as I can verify.  The bike was stored in a barn for the last 10 years. I removed the bike from storage last year, cleaned the mice nests out of the air cleaner filter, rebuilt all four carburetors, replaced all fluids and the throttle cables and it started right up.  VIN# CB550 - 1200593. Engine# CB550 E – 1066266. Manufactured 6/74.  Starts on first try with the kick start.  Bike does need a complete tune-up but does run fine and all brakes and lights work.

You can see and hear a current YouTube Video of this bike by going to the following link:

Most of the chrome shows light pitting/Rust.  Small dent in front fender and gas tank, and several paint chips in gas tank. Seat has one fairly large rip (See photos).  Clutch works great.  All brakes work.  Inside of tank has very little rust. No tool kit or title included, but I will provide a Notary Bill of Sale if required.  Please look carefully at all pictures before asking questions.  This bike is sold as is.

Payment must be made within 5 days of close of auction.  Shipping is the buyers responsibility.

2013 Honda CB500F, CB500X and CBR500R Recalled in Australia

Tue, 18 Feb 2014

Honda has recalled its 2013 CB500F, CB500X and CBR500R models in Australia because of a defect that could cause an oil leak. At the moment, no recall has been announced for the U.S., though there is a good possibility one will be announced shortly, as all 500-series models are manufactured in the same Honda factory in Thailand. There is a similar recall for the Japanese market for the CB400F, CB400X and CBR400R, which are mechanically identical to Honda’s 500-series models, but with a smaller engine to meet the country’s tiered licensing requirements.  According to the Australian and Japanese recall notices, the rocker arm shaft sealing bolt may come loose, causing oil to leak from the engine.

2014 AMA Supercross – Daytona Results

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Ryan Villopoto was dominant in Daytona, leading all 20 laps to win his third race of the season. The Monster Energy Kawasaki ride strengthened his hold on the 2014 AMA Supercross championship lead, padding his lead over Red Bull KTM riders Ryan Dungey and Ken Roczen. The reigning three-time champion was far and away the fastest racer on the Daytona International Speedway infield, posting lap times more than a second faster than anyone else.
