Up for auction is a 1936 HARLEY model VD 74twin with the rare 4-speed transmission (used in ’36 only), including lots of NOS and new motor, transmission, chassis and accessory parts. Motor, carburetor, generator and transmission are rebuilt from NOS and new parts. SEE PHOTOS. Title is in my name. I acquired this bike back in 1981 from a scrap yard in East St. Louis, IL. It had sat there for years. It was about 60% complete. Over the next 15 years or so, I collected NOS parts and accessories to rebuild and restore the bike. This is a project bike that I know I’m not going to get to. I’m just too busy. A major problem with all VL’s is wear in the wheel hubs and splines of the connecting brake drums. When worn, the wheels wiggle…no fun when riding at speed. This bike has NOS wheel hubs and brake drums with splines. Also the drum internals are NOS with new bearings and felt seals included.
