Honda Gold Wing description
2008 Goldwing Trike
Trike was bought new from Cold Springs Honda in Cold Springs TN in 2010. The trike also comes with a matching trailer. The trike has just 21,028 miles on it. Let's start at the front of the trike and work out way back to cover all of the add-ons: 1. Front tire is a Michelin Aptiva rear sport bike tire turned to run backwards. Normal front tries for a two wheel Goldwing will not last very long on a trike. I was only averaging 5000 miles on a front tire. Then I mounted the Michelin Aptiva after talking to other trikers about longer tire life. The tire has about 10,000 miles on it and shows very little wear and should last till 30,000 to 50,000 miles. 2. New front disk pads were installed by the dealer this spring. 3. The recall on the Goldwing brake system was also taken care of at the dealer this spring. 4.Shor t windshield to improve air flow. I still have the original windshield if you want it. 5. Garmin GPS mount included. 6. Trike wired with an cigarette lighter in the left pocket for aux power supply. 7. Pull back handlebar brackets installed in improve the seating position of your arms on the trike. 8. Iso grips. 9. Cup holders for both the driver and passenger. 10. Pegs replaced with floorboards and heel and toe shifter. 11. Highway boards installed. 12. Tire pressure monitoring system installed on all three tires and displayed on dash. 13. Backrest for driver. 14. Separate passenger volume and CB controls installed. 15. CB Radio 16. Luggage Rack 17. 3 covers, two for the trike and one for the trailer. 18. 2 helmets with headsets are included. 19. Oil changed every 3000 miles or each spring. 20. Battery on Battery Tender all winter. 21. Trike also comes with a sheep skin that you can slip over seat for different ride. 22. The trike kit is a CSC. 23. Trike has 1 year left on warranty. There is one small scratch on the driver side back low on the fender. The trike and trailer have always been in the garage and never wrecked or damaged. The trike and trailer are In excellent condition and I hate to sell them but my doc is telling me it is time to stop riding with my back problems. So my bad luck is someone's good luck. |

Schwantz and Mackenzie on the Nurburgring box
Mon, 10 Dec 2012A 500GP bike never fails to stop me in my tracks and that’s exactly what happened when I spotted this Schwantz example from the early nineties, proudly displayed on the Arai stand at the recent Motorcyclelive show. On loan from Crescent Suzuki and accompanied by a rostrum publicity shot from the 1990 German GP at the Nurburgring, I felt the urge to write a few words on that special weekend. I started the year running my own 250 GP team with fairly standard TZ Yamahas but was drafted in as Kevin Schwantz’s team mate after Kevin Magee suffered a serious head injury at the second Grand Prix in Laguna Seca. With no testing and some major Spanish food poisoning I finished 8th at the next round in Jerez then followed that up with a 5th place in Misano. Next up was the Nurburgring and after qualifying on the second row of the grid, my crew chief Geoff Crust informed me he had a premonition of a race day rostrum finish. He also told me I better make it come true as he was already looking forward to a few post race celebratory refreshments. While I hoped Crusty was the new mystic meg, the truth was I would have been more than happy to buy the beers if I made it to the flag inside the top five. I had an outside chance of catching one major scalp as Wayne Rainey was riding with a nasty hand injury but I suspected adrenalin would see him through the day. I also followed Mick Doohan a fair bit in practice but he was beginning to find his feet on the Rothmans Honda so was going to be another problem. When the lights went out Schwantz and Rainey went straight to the front I while I hung in behind Doohan and Pier Francesco Chilli, and then it happened. Coming out of the bottom right hand hairpin, Doohan and Chilli simultaneously high sided in one of the most spectacular crashes of the season. I never liked seeing any fellow riders crash but I made the most of this early race gift and rode my 160bhp/115kg RGV hard to the flag, claiming my first podium of the season. We partied hard (win or lose we always did) that night and I went on to have my best ever season finishing fourth overall in the championship. After the last round in Australia, I finished second to Kevin at Sugo in Japan then won in Malaysia at another international race that KS didn’t attend. I also tested at Eastern Creek for the following season but then was flicked from the team for reasons that still remain a mystery. Hey Ho!
